Manchester United are reportedly “getting closer” to signing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain and the move could result in two sales.
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his new recruiting team are playing this summer, having already signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro from Bologna and Lille respectively.
Man Utd would still be busy in the transfer market after finishing eighth in the Premier League last season and the first signs that the club is on track to take a step forward in the campaign.
The Premier League giants want to get rid of saleable assets to increase the budget for more signings and it has been reported that Jadon Sancho is “on the verge” of following Mason Greenwood on his departure.
Man Utd and PSG are reportedly in deal talks as a “brutal final offer” is being prepared for Dutch foreigner Xavi Simons.
The Red Devils are also hoping to acquire Uruguayan Ugarte from PSG and Football Insider reports that they are “getting closer” to signing.
The report explains: “Man United will hold talks this week about a deal for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, sources told Football Insider.
“The 23-year-old is represented through Jorge Mendes, the same agent who ended Leny Yoro.
“The Premier League giants are running into the central spaces of the team this summer.
“United will focus on offers for Scott McTominay and Casemiro, potentially leaving room for Erik ten Hag in his midfield options. “
In the defense department, Man Utd have already signed 18-year-old Yoro, but a centre-back addition is needed as Harry Maguire and/or Victor Lindelof could stay with Raphael Varane until he leaves this summer.
After refusing to pay Everton’s asking price for Jarrad Branthwaite, Man Utd have turned their attention to signing Bayern Munich star Matthijs de Ligt and are still in talks with the Bundesliga giants about the transfer.
Manchester United’s offers for Branthwaite were well below Everton’s asking price and German journalist Christian Falk claims that their first rejected offer for De Ligt was based on Bayern Munich’s valuation.
He said: Manchester United are offering €35m (£29m) for Matthijs de Ligt (£24). FC Bayern rejected the offer.
“FC Bayern are asking for €50 million (£43 million) plus add-ons. Bayern will have to sell players to acquire new players. Negotiations between the clubs continue.
