Van de Beek signed a five-year contract that includes a contract of 12 more months.
It’s a blow to United’s manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as Real Madrid were behind the midfielder a year ago.
The La Liga giants have been forced to stop chasing the 23-year-old after being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Van de Beek has shone for the last two seasons with Ajax, betting on the club’s impressive Champions League race in the 2018/19 campaign.
The midfielder has continued to publish fake numbers ever since, scoring 14 and generating seven assists in 34 appearances last season.
It remains to be noted where Van de Beek will move to United along with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, but Solskjaer can gain advantages by having him on the team.
Van de Beek told United’s official website: “I can’t begin to think about how amazing it is to sign up for a club with such an incredible history.
“I have to thank everyone at Ajax.I grew up there and I’ll have a special bond with the club.
“Now I’m in a position to take the next step in my career and carry it out at the highest point and there’s no more popular than Manchester United.”
“Everyone has told me how wonderful the atmosphere is at Old Trafford and I can’t wait to revel in that once the enthusiasts can return safely.
“This team has some of the global midfielders and I know I can be informed of them and also bring my own strengths to the group.
“After talking to the coach about his vision for this team, the direction the club is headed in is incredibly exciting and I look forward to being one of them.
Solskjaer added: “Donny has all the technical attributes to perform on this team and has the personality to succeed at Manchester United.
His ability to see space, time his movements and read the game will complement the qualities we have in the midfield and his arrival reinforces the intensity of skill we have in this position.
“Donny’s performances at the Eredivisie and Europe have been perfect in recent years and we are all ahead of running with him.”

Van de Beek’s agent also revealed that Arsenal were among those who fought for the player’s signing this year.
“Manchester United is the right choice,” Sjaak Swart told Ajax Showtime.
“There were more clubs interested, such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Juventus and Arsenal. It was six in all, it was all over because of the coronavirus.
On Arsenal’s interest, he added: “Yes, they looked for him.
“But they just couldn’t get cash for a transfer.Even the biggest clubs are struggling.
“Arsenal are a wonderful club, but Manchester United will be an attractive adventure.
Ex and the huge foul.
