Jadon Sancho will return to Manchester United at the end of his loan spell as Borussia Dortmund are unable to make the deal permanent.
Sancho will return to his former club Dortmund for the rest of the season, ending his exile at United following his falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. Winger Sancho, who has not played for United since August and has been forced to exercise. On his own, he is expected to join the Dortmund squad at their winter training camp in Marbella in the next 48 hours.
Dortmund will pay United a loan fee of around £3million, but there is no agreement in place for the German side to keep Sancho on a full-time basis once that short-term deal expires. The Bundesliga club cannot afford Sancho’s £250,000-a-week wages, which means he will return to United in the summer, where he has been frozen out by Ten Hag.
Despite Sancho’s refusal to apologise for publicly undermining Ten Hag on social media, United are hoping the 23-year-old can return to his most productive form at Dortmund. This will improve United’s chances of promoting him for decent value this summer. It is admitted that they will not receive the £73 million they paid Dortmund for him in 2021.
But United are hoping to recoup a significant portion of those costs, which will be reinvested in strengthening their squad this summer. Sancho has scored just 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances for United, but they hope to return to Dortmund. It will revive his career.
Sancho played for Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 and stood out with 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games for the club. This time he forged a brilliant understanding with Erling Haaland and helped the club win the DFB Pokal in 2021.
United are also willing to let Raphael Varane leave this summer, and the club decided to extend his contract by 12 months. That means Varane can now reach out to other clubs, Bayern Munich and a Saudi Pro League host keen to attract. the winner of the World Cup to France.
What do you think of Jadon Sancho’s handling of Manchester United?Comments below.
“We have everything,” Ten Hag said when asked about the January window after Monday night’s 2-0 win over Wigan in the FA Cup. “So what is it that is in the most productive interest of the players and also in the most productive interest of us?”, the team, Manchester United. So we’ll see how we progress during the window.
When asked about the number of injuries the team has had recently, he added: “I don’t need to get frustrated because there’s nothing I can do about it, it probably wouldn’t help the team. So we have to get the most productive performances. ” and the most productive effects that can be had with the players and that is what we seek to do. I think there will be some players who hope to be able to return over the weekend.
