Adrien Rabiot’s mum has shut down claims that the Manchester United target has already agreed a new contract with Juventus.
Rabiot, 28, signed a one-year extension to his deal over the summer which left his long-term future up for debate. Despite United being on “excellent terms” with the French midfielder and his mother-agent Veronique, though, it was reported last week that they had again missed out on the chance to sign him.
But the Red Devils have suddenly been given hope of finally bringing in the former Paris Saint-Germain star, who Juventus agreed to sell to United for £15million in the summer of 2022. Football director John Murtough even flew out to Turin to seal the deal, only for Rabiot’s ‘obscene’ salary demands to prove too much during Ten Hag tumultuous first transfer window as manager.
The Red Devils could now renew their interest in the 28-year-old after Véronique, famous for her positive negotiation tactics, fumed in an interview with ANSA: “It’s true (that Rabiot has accepted a new contract). Adrien hasn’t. ” I haven’t decided anything yet. I’m pleased with the false stories that are circulating. “
Veronique’s reaction comes after she made surprising comments in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport last month. Rabiot’s mother also took the opportunity to deny that she had asked United for a €10m (£8. 7m) fee to approve the transfer of her son.
He added: “United wanted to meet me to illustrate their interest in Adrien, but we never spoke in detail about cash as he will remain temporarily in Turin. There have never been genuine negotiations and we are on the best of terms with Manchester United. “.
After being approached about a move to 2022, Rabiot enjoyed his most productive season with Juventus last season, scoring eight goals from various positions in midfield and helping Massimiliano Allegri’s side reach the semi-finals of the Europa League. However, his current campaign could end even better. , with Juventus just two points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan.

The French international has two goals and three assists in 14 appearances, helping to continue his role as a regular for club and country. Rabiot expressed his delight at his situation in an interview with Téléfoot in October, beaming: “It’s a club where I’m satisfied and we’re having a very intelligent season.
“Staying in a team I knew very well, in the season leading up to the Euros, is the most productive option (when he renewed his contract). The club has confidence in me. We will see a renewal later but, in any case, “I am very satisfied with my situation at the club and in the French national team”.
