Manchester United are positive about the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte and that an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain is very close.
With Erik ten Hag extending his contract at Old Trafford and Dan Ashworth now as club principal, United are stepping up their move activities ahead of the new season.
The club are in talks with Bayern Munich over a deal for Matthijs de Ligt and have taken a step forward in their bid for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite as they look to make major innovations in their defence.
Midfield is also a domain that United will be looking for with Casemiro among the organisation of players who could leave Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
While Benfica star Joao Neves is also considered, United are keen to sign Ugarte from PSG with reports in France claiming they are closing in on a deal in the future.
LeSport10 reports that United’s efforts to sign the Uruguayan foreigner are now at a complex stage, with them ready to pay a €45m (£38m) fee plus additional costs.
Manchester City and Barcelona are also interested in signing the 23-year-old, United are hoping to seal the deal.
The final resolution will depend on PSG coach Luis Enrique, who has the option of vetoing incoming and outgoing transfers in the French capital.
Ugarte only signed for PSG last summer in a deal worth £51m with Sporting Lisbon after the player refused to sign for Chelsea.
As well as deals for Ugarte, Branthwaite and de Ligt, United also have the latest option for Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee.
Terms with the Dutch foreigner and his agents have been agreed with United to determine whether his £33m release clause should be applied. A higher payment could allow United to pay Zirkzee in installments.
United hope to raise more money this summer to cover a series of player sales.
Marseille are in complex talks to sign Mason Greenwood and Juventus are believed to be interested in signing Jadon Sancho.
