Man Utd in position to face Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka after missing Erling Haaland’s move in 2018

The Zambian scored twice in Salzburg’s 2–2 draw with Premier League champions Liverpool last week.

And United is fighting with the Reds and several major clubs that are stalking him.

Daka, 21, has scored 24 goals in 31 league games, while Salzburg has won the Austrian name for the seventh year in a row, despite the sale of striker Erling Haaland in January.

Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino evolved at the Austrian club and Daka is the latest addition to the production line.

But United would be a serious rival if Salzburg were willing to do the Daka.

The young star would be cheap, paying 20 million pounds more, as she signed a new contract last year that runs until 2024.

United also has other movement goals, hoping to bring back Jadon Sancho, still dead.

But on the other hand, United knows how much it costs to look for young people’s ability well in advance.

Old Trafford’s bosses have hesitated to signal Haaland to the Norwegian Molde for a down payment of 2.7 million pounds in July 2018.

Salzburg took advantage of his possibility and then sold Haaland for 18 million pounds to Dortmund, where he was a player worth a hundred million pounds.

United was in pole position to signal Moussa Dembele from Fulham in 2016.

Instead, the French striker joined Celtic.

But the Premier League giants were not in sight when Dembélé joined Lyon in 2018.

Now Dembélé is back on his radar, but he’d have 60 million pounds.
