Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has joined Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season.
The 26-year-old Dutch foreigner has made six Premier League starts for the Red Devils since leaving Ajax for a £35million fee in 2020.
His only Premier League appearance this season was as a late replacement in a 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace at the end of September.
United manager Erik ten Hag recently said his compatriot Van de Beek wants a replacement to revive his career.
Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche said on his club’s website: “Donny van de Beek fits perfectly into our concept of play and is a piece of the puzzle for our team.
“He brings a great wealth of foreign delight from which our young players will gain advantages. Donny radiates risk and, above all, puts our attackers in promising positions.
Van de Beek played for United in all competitions and scored two goals.
He spent the second part of the 2021-22 campaign with departmental rivals Everton, but was limited to seven outings during that loan period.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “As revealed weeks ago, Eintracht will pay small loan fee and cover majority of Donny’s wages. Buy option not mandatory: €11m plus €3m add-ons.”
Last month, Van de Beek said he was desperately looking to start playing more regularly.
“I have to start betting very soon, if not on Man United, then on the club. I think I have to be ambitious,” Van de Beek said.
“I’ve been a lover of the game. I’m probably crazy about football. I make a good living at United, but money is not my motivation. I need to enjoy my paintings every day.
Van de Beek added: “Last season I was sidelined for months due to my knee injury. You miss it terribly.
“I appreciate it even more because I have a fabulous job. I am at a legendary club and I am proud every day to wear the Manchester United shirt.
“But I’m full of energy now that I’m in great shape and I’m training like an animal. The time has come to make another decision.
