Manchester United have made “several” offers for Manuel Ugarte, and Paris Saint-Germain refuse to budge on the midfielder’s asking price.
After completing deals for Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, United are interested in midfield, with Uruguayan foreigner Ugarte emerging as their next most sensible target.
The 23-year-old joined the France champions from Sporting Lisbon last summer after turning down an offer from Chelsea, but reports suggest Luis Enrique has informed the player that he is part of his upcoming plans for the first team.
PSG are also believed to be close to closing a deal to sign Joao Neves from Benfica, a move that would push Ugarte down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes.
Having been so straightforward to play unlike last season, United are keen to bring a solid presence in midfield, but have so far been reluctant to match PSG’s sale value, which has lately stood at £58m.
Sky Sports Germany reports that United have made several attempts to negotiate a value reduction with the France champions, who so far remain steadfast in their valuation, determined to cash in on the player they signed a year ago.
United are in a position in their bid to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.

Having sold Mason Greenwood to Marseille, United will offer Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Christian Eriksen, with Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho, Scott McTominay and Antony among those who can be obtained at the right price.
