BORUSSIA Dortmund is not having an easy time getting Manchester United to pay a third of Jadon Sancho’s salary, according to reports.
Talks between the clubs are progressing on a possible loan in January.
The 23-year-old Sancho is in a position to end his nightmare at Old Trafford and sign for his former club.
But Dortmund are not willing to pay his full salary of £290,000 a week as it is part of their budget, the Mail claims.
As a result, it is not easy for the German giants to get Man Utd to pay £100,000 of his salary every week.
It means the Red Devils will hand Sancho around £2.5m to play elsewhere until the end of this season should they agree to the proposal.
However, United would save £5 million by removing part of his salary from the books, allowing the club to comply with FFP regulations.
Reports suggest that there will be no obligation to buy Sancho included in the deal.
But Dortmund would likely have to pay more for the loan if clauses based on appearances and Champions League qualification are met.
Sancho has played for Man Utd since a public spat with Erik ten Hag in September.
The £73 million exiled claimed the manager had made him a “scapegoat”.
Sancho refused and has since been banned from the education and all first-team facilities.
Meanwhile, Dortmund are the latest to sign Chelsea star Ian Maatsen on loan.
