Man Utd will re-sign Memphis Depay as the Dutchman will be “very motivated to return”

Manchester United hero Louis Saha believes Memphis Depay “would be very motivated to return to Old Trafford.” Depay had a depressing 18-month period at United between 2015 and 2017. The Dutch foreigner made only 53 appearances with the Red Devils after reaching 25 million pounds from PSV Eindhoven.

Depay left United for Lyon in January 2017 and is a star on the French side.

The striker, now 26, has been the main centre forward and has scored 53 goals in 136 games.

Depay is also a key member of the Dutch national team, scoring 19 goals in 51 international matches.

Saha says Depay has matured since leaving United and believes he would like to return to the club to make others wrong.

“I’m not a Memphis Depay fan when he was originally at the club because I don’t think he’s mentally ready, yet he took a step forward dramatically and proved to be a major force in Ligue 1,” Saha told the Football Index Podcast.

“Depay has matured and become the leader of an exciting team from Lyon.

“He’s had the quality to play at the top point and I think he’d be very motivated to go back to Old Trafford and be smart enough.”

But former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s priority is to point out a striker because he doesn’t think Anthony Martial can get the club to the point he needs.

“Martial for me will bring them back to the top, ” said O’Hara to talkSPORT.

“I like it, I think it’s brilliant, but I don’t think it’s going to be that world-class striker they’ve had in the afterlife, where they’ve been dominated.”

“He’s not smart enough to bring them back to the wisest. They probably wouldn’t win the Premier League with the three most sensible.”

‘I’m not saying they’re not a smart team, I’m not saying they don’t have very smart players. I’m just saying it’s a semi-final team, they’re not winners.

“If they had [Jadon] Sancho and they had the number 9, a real number 9, I agree that they want a half center.

‘I’m not saying it’s easy to get one, but I can’t see them win the league, that’s what I’m saying.

“I don’t think Martial is that, I don’t think it is.”
