Man Utd’s Rasmus Hojlund as Premier League striker ‘dreams’ of transfer

Manchester United will return to the striker market this summer in search of a worthy festival for Rasmus Hojlund, who had to take over in his first season in England. Rodrigo Muñiz is lighting up the Premier League at Fulham and dreams of completing a move to United.

Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford last summer as a raw talent whose £72m fee basically represented the potential he had shown at FC Copenhagen, SK Sturm Graz and Atalanta BC.

Erik ten Hag was expected to integrate him into his squad, with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford making their usual forward adjustments during the season.

However, Martial’s injury disorders have resurfaced, restricting him to just seven starts in all competitions and leaving him all but guaranteed to be released this summer.

Rashford struggled to build on the 30-goal 2022/23 season in his career, scoring just 8 times, and remained stuck on the left, leaving Hojlund as Ten Hag’s only striker option for most of the campaign.

The 21-year-old showed a glimpse of his class, becoming the youngest player to score in six consecutive Premier League games this year. He is United’s top scorer with 13.

Hojlund need competition, however, and United are said to have prioritised a striker in addition to a centre-back in the first summer transfer window of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s reign.

Many of the goals announced through the Red Devils are being played lately in the Premier League, and it would be unexpected if Muniz was not included in Ten Hag’s striker list.

The 22-year-old scored his first Premier League goal in February after a rocky start to the top flight at Fulham, which included a below-average loan spell at Middlesbrough last season.

Since then, he has scored eight goals in as many games, becoming the competition’s top scorer in 2024.

According to Marca, Muñiz had dreamed of bringing his goalscoring feats to United since he played for Flamengo and Coritiba at their home side in Brazil.

Muniz’s most recent contribution – a stoppage-time shot to salvage a 3-3 draw at Sheffield United – further cemented his growing reputation.

“In training he does it a lot. For me it’s a wonderful satisfaction because I saw something in him and put pressure on the club to sign him,” Fulham manager Marco Silva said after the acrobatic strike.

The South American star, who has a contract at Craven Cottage until 2026, is said to have idolised former United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a child.

Silva has subsidized him on his own from here, which could provide United with an excellent opportunity in the market this summer.
