Manchester City 2022-23, champions of the Premier League, wins the third consecutive title

Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions for the 2022-23 season while Pep Guardiola’s side completed the treble.

This is their fifth Premier League name in the last six seasons and they have now won top-tier names in their history, making seven in the last 12 years.

Pep Guardiola becomes the first coach in history to win 3 consecutive top-flight titles in 3 countries: Spain, Germany and now England.

Manchester City also reached the FA Cup and Champions League finals and are now on the way to a historic treble for one of the biggest groups the world has ever known.

This is the third time in Premier League history that a team has won the name for 3 consecutive seasons, and Manchester United did it the other two times (1998–01 and 2006–09).

City stamped their name after Nottingham Forest beat Arsenal on Saturday.

Manchester City will now receive the trophy following their home game against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 21 May and ProSoccerTalk will be available in Manchester to detail Man City’s most recent trophy celebration.

Of course, Erling Haaland’s record-breaking season helped, as he set a new record for maximum goals scored by a player in a Premier League season without getting married.

But their incredible run of 11 consecutive wins saw them overtake Arsenal, as City were 8 problems behind the Gunners in March 2023, but with one game remaining.

The name of good fortune also comes after the Premier League accused Manchester City in February of more than a hundred alleged monetary lapses.

– Manchester City (@ManCity) May 20, 2023

On the pitch, Kevin de Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish, John Stones, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Rodri played their part in the final stretch.

The switch to a 3-2-4-1 formation in recent months was also essential, but it was simply a general team effort.

Given the form they have found themselves in recent months, Manchester City have shown that a historic treble seems very likely, as their goal is to make the 2022-23 season one of the most in football history.

Manchester City are Premier League champions, and they didn’t even want their victory on Sunday against Chelsea to come there.

Arsenal may not withstand the pressure on City with a desperate defeat at Forest, but the Gunners were not the only north London team to ruin their lines on Saturday.

[MORE: How to watch the Premier League in the United States]

And there is a little more clarity in the relegation picture, Leicester City would like to muddy it a bit more when week 37 of the Premier League season ends in Newcastle on Monday (watch live, 3 p. m. ET on USA Network and online through NBCSports. com).

This is where our writers live, as Joe Prince-Wright (JPW), Andy Edwards (AE), and Nicholas Mendola (NM) share their observations on newer PL games.

1. Manchester City, which has replaced a lot, is still rolling despite the distraction of the name party (Man City 1-0 Chelsea): Pep Guardiola made nine adjustments to the team that beat Real Madrid midweek and 3 of them combined for a single purpose while Kalvin Phillips played at Cole Palmer, who prepared Julian Alvarez to finish. Chelsea blew and blew when Conor Gallagher hit the post while Raheem Sterling (who won very well through City fans when he substituted him) went close twice while caretaker boss Frank Lampard at least saw his side digging. But the swath of City players and teenagers who showed how smart they are like Guardiola will have the luxury of resting their star men for the final two Premier League games and ahead of the FA Cup. last opposition to Manchester United on June 3 and the UEFA Champions League last opposition to Inter Milan in Istanbul on June 10. (JPW)

2. Arsenal quietly entered the night (Nottingham Forest 1-0 Arsenal): In the end, it’s an unhappy way for Arsenal’s name to officially come out. With their Premier League trophy hopes hanging in the balance, Arsenal controlled just five shots for a total of 0. 22xG at half the time. The Gunners lightly threatened Forest despite the seriousness of their situation in the last 70 minutes. (EA)

3. Positive vibes for Liverpool despite 4 sensible setback (Liverpool 1-1 Aston Villa) – Liverpool are now 10 games unbeaten and very disappointed to lose ground in 4 sensible run, can’t complain how things have changed this season. Jurgen Klopp’s side got caught up in a very smart Villa side in the first half but beat them in the moment part and they may have won the game handily. Despite looming squad adjustments this summer, he looks like one aspect of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Luis Díaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota clicked the gears and the foursome of Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah stood tall. The midfield remains the key domain for Klopp to raise a new star this summer and he knew it in a position. However, this late-season run also revealed something to Klopp that he didn’t know: there is no need to completely revamp this Liverpool team and, given a few key climbs, they will be in a position to do so. primary trophy matchup next season. Even if they don’t finish in the most sensible 4, as they hope Newcastle and Manchester United mess up, Liverpool’s finish this season proves they’re not as far removed from the glory days of past seasons as everyone else. were. (JPW)

4. La first season is a good fortune for Erik ten Hag (Bournemouth 0-1 Manchester United): two games into his tenure, it looked like Erik ten Hag might not deliver two months of work. But it is very transparent 35 games after the Dutchman has laid a vital foundation ahead of a summer move window for Manchester United. A fourth (or third) position is almost guaranteed, which was the number one goal at the start of the season. Nor is it a feat fácil. de the FA Cup final, and the option of depriving Manchester City of a treble, which also remains. Champions League football is nice, but to finish the season lifting a momentary trophy, at City’s expense no less, would be the real treat for fans united. (EA)

5. Spurs season in 90 minutes (Spurs 1-3 Brentford): Tottenham are an impressive team. . . in smart and bad ways. In the first half against Brentford we saw Harry Kane score a stunning goal to make it 1-0 and they were skillful, full of power and deserved to have been at least 2-0 up when they switched to a 4-2-3. Formula -1 with Dejan Kulusevski as roving center back seemed to confuse Brentford. But then the bees found out and tore Tottenham apart. It looked like Spurs thought they had won the game and at that point we saw an impressively poor performance from Tottenham. This Jekyll and Hyde team put on another Jekyll and Hyde demonstration and the Spurs are capable of delivering moments of magic along with moments of misery. It’s one season and whoever comes next has to completely reset everything behind the scenes, with or without Harry Kane, because the Spurs have to start from scratch to be genuine this time. Since Mauricio Pochettino’s departure, the cracks have been plugged, but if they are serious about becoming the four most sensible teams challenging for the trophy, some major adjustments are needed this summer. (JPW)

6. Brighton’s move to Europe (Brighton 3-1 Southampton): That’s it: Roberto De Zerbi’s side finish in the top six unless they don’t box goalkeepers or anything like that in the last two games of the season. The contribution of the entire Brighton team showed again on Sunday, even counting for the opposition. Evan Ferguson, 18, added to his impressive rookie run with his fifth and sixth passes of the season, and there were no passengers on the Amex. And what else? Pascal Gross, now Brighton’s most sensible new goalscorer in the Premier League. Brighton in Europe. Wow. Well deserved. (NM)

7. The Toffees fight for protection until the last day (Wolves 1-1 Everton): When Sean Dyche named Frank Lampard’s successor, the way forward seemed clear: he would force the Toffees to protect like Dyche’s Burnley groups and that would be enough for himself. to keep them away from the last 3. However, Everton have not done anything like this under Dyche. In 17 games under his leadership, Everton have left just 4 blank sheets, while conceding several goals 11 times (including six of their last 8). exits) and 3 or more goals on five occasions. (EA)

8. Leaky Leeds is no longer forged under the last boss (West Ham 3-1 Leeds): it is now 12 Premier League games since Leeds or its warring parties kept a blank sheet. Leeds have conceded a league-high 74 goals this season and would likely lose their position in the most sensible stretch despite being in the middle of the pack in terms of goals scored. It wasn’t even enough although it was entertaining, and it’s a bit ruthless to believe that a coach can also have come in and taught a bad defensive unit to protect better. Yes, even Big Sam Allardyce. Si Leeds collapses, and who knows what Tottenham will look like at Elland Road. Next week, it will be due to various factors, but the main reason will be not being able to defeat the other team. (NM)

9. La end-of-season walk shows the promise of next season for Cottagers, Eagles (Fulham 2-2 Crystal Palace): Willian and Aleksandar Mitrovic mix with quality in the third final for Fulham along with flashes of brilliance from Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise at the other end showed how fun Fulham and Palace can be when they are at their best. When the tension is released, those two teams have players who can express themselves and completing in the most sensible 10 is not excluded for next season. Both can simply put pressure on Europe if they are successful in their summer recruitment, plus Marco Silva remains at Fulham and Palace in the direction they need to take, whether Roy Hodgson stays or not. Yes, either group was “on the beach” on the banks of the River Thames, as some mistakes were made in either group of players. But when the sun is shining and any of the groups have been inspired by their resources, the beach is a laugh. Just like Fulham and Crystal Palace. (JPW)

10. Brentford answer questions, but more remain (Spurs 1-3 Brentford): Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa looked very intelligent, while the Bees wait without suspended star striker Ivan Toney. But what will the Bees look like next year without Toney?since his glorious crusade in the most sensible part is far from European football. The hiring of Brentford has been either judicious and reliable, but there is still much to be done to remain a team capable of completing in the most sensible ten. With suitors for Thomas Frank and Mathias Jensen just around the corner, what will the Bees do in 2023-24?

MANCHESTER – A revamped Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 as the main target at the Etihad Stadium to celebrate their third consecutive Premier League victory.

FULL REPRODUCTION OF THE MATCH

Pep Guardiola made nine changes from the team that beat Real Madrid in midweek and three of them combined for Kalvin Phillips to play against Cole Palmer, who assisted Julian Alvarez to finish.

Chelsea blew and blew when Conor Gallagher hit the post while Raheem Sterling (who very well won through the city fans when he substituted him) went close twice while caretaker boss Frank Lampard at least saw his side digging.

But it’s City’s fringes and teenagers who proved how smart they are, as Guardiola will have the luxury of resting his star men for the final 3 Premier League games and the FA Cup final lead against Manchester United on June 3 and the UEFA Champions League. last against Inter Milan in Istanbul on June 10.

[MORE: How to watch the Premier League in the U. S. U. S. ]

With the win, Manchester City moves to 88 points per season with two games to play. Chelsea have 43 points and are confident of completing at the bottom of the table for the first time since 1996.

Yes, it was a Chelsea side that suffered, but Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez and Rico Lewis all showed that they can stand their ground when called upon and the point wouldn’t drop until that. Now and in the long term. Pep Guardiola has rotated his team, as he deserves, but like Foden, Álvarez can still play an important role in the FA Cup and Champions League finals. Kalvin Phillips has also shown his elegance and there is so much concentration in City’s starting eleven that the substitutes don’t get the credit they deserve. Most of those players will have another run against Brentford next Sunday and the hunger they have shown shows that they can play their part in the final of what they hope will be a great treble. Even if they don’t play a big part in the next two finals, City’s long term looks bright as this very other aspect has been incredibly similar in taste and has emulated the superstars they root for. Yes, that’s what they deserve to be doing. But few groups in the history of the game have had a reserve lineup as savvy as this one.

Cole Palmer: set Alvarez’s purpose and majestic by cutting to the left. What ability he has and I hope we can see him more in the future.

Kalvin Phillips: Good ball for the first time to set up Alvarez’s goal. The header hit the post and the placement excellent. He has shown that he can be counted on.

Julián Álvarez: He took advantage of his purpose and looked strong at all times. There are no better replacement strikers than him.

Manchester City to Brighton on Wednesday, May 24, then ends their Premier League season with a holiday in Brentford on Sunday, May 28. Chelsea have another holiday outside Manchester while playing at Man United on Thursday, May 25. The Blues then host Newcastle on the final day of the season.

What a brilliant birthday party it is. City’s players appreciate that, but you feel like they’re holding back until they win the FA Cup and Champions League as well. Or at least that’s their plan. . .

Big ovations for Silva, Haaland, Dias, De Bruyne and Stones. Great atmosphere here.

The players have come out to collect their medals and there is a massive line of coaching staff, coaches and other members of the club all covered and receiving the applause of the fans.

FULL-TIME: Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea: A regime win for teenagers and City and Haaland substitutes De Bruyne, Rodri and Stones made half-time appearances. It’s time at the Etihad.

– Joe Prince-Wright (@JPW_NBCSports) May 21, 2023

Erling Haaland replaced Mahrez to receive a standing ovation and with his first touch sent the ball into the goal and Lewis almost changed it to the second post. So almost a moment for City.

NO PURPOSE! Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea – Riyad Mahrez is outplayed and beats Lewis Hall, who slipped, Mahrez manipulated the ball while controlling it, then passed it to Alvarez to pass home. Erase handball. Aimlessly. Use.

Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling receives a standing ovation from the city’s enthusiasts when he is replaced. Good touch, that.

Raheem Sterling denied at the counter when John Stones cleared his shot off the line. It turns out that Sterling is just offside but very close. Still, a perfect defense from the Stones.

To her credit, Chelsea held on. They press at the top and City have not lived up to them in terms of fluidity.

MAIL! Kalvin Phillips hit a very good header into the back corner, but hit the post and Chelsea cleared. So close to a moment for Man City.

John Stones arrives at the start of the current part and City’s other submarines heat up on the sidelines. As they do so, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva receive a warm welcome. City enthusiasts and players are having an old time there.

The part at the moment is underway and there are no adjustments for either team.

– Joe Prince-Wright (@JPW_NBCSports) May 21, 2023

HALF-TIME: Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea: The hosts looked smart to start the first half and Julian Alvarez gave them a deserved lead, but Chelsea had some chances. Marginal stars play. It’s scary how smart your XI moment is.

There is a pause after this wave of opportunities for Chelsea. Frank Lampard’s team is in damage limitation mode. Manchester City plays not to get hurt.

MAIL! Another possibility for Chelsea, as Conor Gallagher’s header hit the post and then broke Ortega’s knee and bounced clearly.

SAVE! First great chance of the game for Chelsea, as Enzo Fernandez did very well in midfield and Kai Havertz discovered Raheem Sterling, but his low shot was brilliantly saved through Stefan Ortega.

Meanwhile, back on court (there’s a game up for grabs, you know?), Phil Foden unleashes a tricky effort right outdoors in the aftermath. Foden, do you see it? Just one of the most productive young players on the planet who has been City’s replacement for the peak of this season due to injury.

There is a genuine festive atmosphere here. City enthusiasts don’t even watch the game. They see Poznan in the stands. Delicious stuff.

NEAR! Cole Palmer’s deflected shot was cleared by Chalobah from the line. It’s embarrassing coming from Chelsea. Manchester City plays fluid throughout their midfield.

There is an occasional rendition of “stand up, for the champions!”Local enthusiasts and most enthusiasts stand up and applaud. Much appreciation for a third consecutive victory. This kind of dominance will never be boring for Man City enthusiasts.

A brilliant and fluid move involving academy graduates Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis ended with Alvarez getting in Foden’s way, then Mahrez’s shot was deflected.

GOALLL! Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea – Julian Alvarez returns home and the party continues here at the Etihad. It all came about when Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana gave the ball away and Palmer stepped forward to place Alvarez at home. Too easy for City. On the pitch, the party early.

Chelsea don’t have it yet and that’s all Man City. Cole Palmer sees a lot of ball down the left.

City have already had 3 chances. Kalvin Phillips, Sergio Gomez and Riyad Mahrez are all involved.

We’re getting closer to the start here and the city’s submarines have a great tracking game. De Bruyne, Rodri, Grealish, Stones, Gundogan and Dias are all involved. Not bad crew. . .

The starting line-ups are there and Manchester City have travelled a lot. It’s still the team they put together, but just take a look at this bench. Manuel Akanji and Kyle Walker are the only two to retain their starting spots since the win over Real Madrid. Chelsea have made many adjustments since their draw with Nottingham Forest, with the arrival of Kepa, Cesar Azpilicueta, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kai Havertz and Wesley Fofana.

Hello and welcome to Etihad! The sun is shining, flags and banners are lit and Manchester City fans are celebrating as they celebrate the 2022-23 Premier League name victory. The whole atmosphere here.

Is there sadness for City after the emergence of Real Madrid? It seems unlikely, but stranger things have happened in the Premier League. Erling Haaland continues to rewrite the books of goal records in a single season in the Premier League, and Kevin De Bruyne will once again lead the department in assists.

Do Frank Lampard’s Blues have anything in the tank? Can opportunity help them find a quality appearance that matches their skill and reputation?Players like Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta have the character to lead the Blues, but they seem cooked more than not.
