The Citizens are expected to prioritise a new central midfielder in 2024, and manager Pep Guardiola is keen to see a real festival for Rodri.
Kalvin Phillips is expected to leave the club next year, while Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes have been inconsistent at the club since their recent arrivals.
According to Football Transfers, Manchester City know Kimmich as their number one target, and the German foreigner will be allowed to leave Bayern next year.
The report claims that Kimmich is facing a lengthy dubious career at the Allianz Arena due to a dispute with head coach Thomas Tuchel, and that it is possible he could be moved in next summer’s transfer window.
Kimmich was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer, but the midfielder’s valuation ultimately prevented the La Liga champions from signing him.
The German will soon serve the final 18 months of his contract at the Allianz Arena and it turns out Bayern are willing to let him leave for the right price.
The 28-year-old was once again a vital player for Tuchel’s side in the 2023-24 campaign, making 20 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing six assists.
Meanwhile, the midfielder has 41 goals and 100 assists in 367 appearances for the Munich giants since joining from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2015.
Kimmich has also enjoyed great luck at Bayern in terms of trophies, winning 8 Bundesliga titles, 3 German Cups and the Champions League.
Barcelona are thought to remain attentive to the situation, with their head coach Xavi claiming in June that his club were interested in bringing him to Camp Nou.
“He’s a very high-level player, who somehow understands the game. If there is an open door, there will be negotiations with Bayern,” Xavi told Mundo Deportivo at the time.
However, Barcelona are expected to prioritise permanent transfers of loanee duo Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix next summer, with Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino now their target in midfield.
As a result, Man City could have plenty of freedom to sign Kimmich, with an exit likely at the end of the campaign unless he signs a new contract with the German champions.
