The 23-year-old side first joined City in 2014 and, after moving to PSV Eindhoven in 2018, returned to Etihad Stadium in 2019 after activating a 5. 3 million pound termination clause.
Angelino played 12 first-team games for Pep Guardiola’s team last season before joining Germany at the end of January.
He was connected with a move to Barcelona last month, while his initial loan deal with Leipzig would have included a £ 27 million takeover option.
