MANCHESTER – A revamped Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 as the main target at the Etihad Stadium to celebrate their third consecutive Premier League victory.
FULL REPRODUCTION OF THE MATCH
Pep Guardiola made nine changes from the team that beat Real Madrid in midweek and three of them combined for Kalvin Phillips to play against Cole Palmer, who assisted Julian Alvarez to finish.
Chelsea blew and blew when Conor Gallagher hit the post, while Raheem Sterling (who won very well through the city fans when he substituted him) went close twice, while caretaker Frank Lampard at least saw his side digging.
But it’s City’s fringes and teenagers who proved how smart they are, as Guardiola will have the luxury of resting his star men for the final 3 Premier League games and the FA Cup final lead against Manchester United on June 3 and the UEFA Champions League. last against Inter Milan in Istanbul on June 10.

With the win, Manchester City moves to 88 points per season with two games to play. Chelsea have 43 points and are confident of completing at the bottom of the table for the first time since 1996.
Yes, it was a Chelsea side that suffered, but Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez and Rico Lewis all showed that they can stand their ground when called upon and the point wouldn’t drop until that. Now and in the long term. Pep Guardiola has rotated through his team, as he deserves, but like Foden, Álvarez can still play an important role in the FA Cup and Champions League finals. Kalvin Phillips has also shown his elegance and there is so much concentration in City’s starting eleven that the substitutes don’t get the credit they deserve. Most of those players will have another run against Brentford next Sunday and the hunger they have shown shows they can play their part in what they hope will be a treble final. Even if they don’t play a big part in the next two finals, City’s long term looks bright as this very other aspect has been incredibly similar in taste and has emulated the superstars they root for. Yes, that’s what they deserve to be doing. But few groups in the history of the game have had a reserve lineup as savvy as this one.
Cole Palmer: set Alvarez’s purpose and majestic by cutting to the left. What ability he has and I hope we can see him more in the future.
Kalvin Phillips: Good ball for the first time to set up Alvarez’s goal. The header hit the post and the placement excellent. He has shown that he can be counted on.
Julián Álvarez: He took advantage of his purpose and looked strong at all times. There are no better replacement strikers than him.
Manchester City to Brighton on Wednesday, May 24, then ends their Premier League season with a holiday in Brentford on Sunday, May 28. Chelsea have another holiday in Manchester while playing at Man United on Thursday, May 25. The Blues then host Newcastle on the final day of the season.

What a brilliant birthday party it is. City’s players appreciate that, but you feel like they’re holding back until they win the FA Cup and Champions League as well. Or at least that’s their plan. . .

Big ovations for Silva, Haaland, Dias, De Bruyne and Stones. Awesome atmosphere here.
The players have come out to collect their medals and there is a massive line of coaching staff, coaches and other members of the club all covered and receiving the applause of the fans.

FULL-TIME: Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea: A regime win for teenagers and City and Haaland substitutes De Bruyne, Rodri and Stones made half-time appearances. It’s time at the Etihad.
– Joe Prince-Wright (@JPW_NBCSports) May 21, 2023
Erling Haaland replaced Mahrez to a standing ovation and with his first touch sent the ball into the goal and Lewis almost changed it to the second post. So almost a moment for City.
NO PURPOSE! Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea – Riyad Mahrez is outplayed and beats Lewis Hall, who slipped, Mahrez manipulated the ball while controlling it, then passed it to Alvarez to pass home. Erase handball. Aimlessly. Use.
Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling receives a standing ovation from the city’s enthusiasts when he is replaced. Good touch, that.
Raheem Sterling denied at the counter when John Stones cleared his shot off the line. It turns out that Sterling is just offside but very close. Still, a perfect defense from the Stones.
To her credit, Chelsea held on. They press at the top and City have not lived up to them in terms of fluidity.
MAIL! Kalvin Phillips hit a very good header into the back corner, but hit the post and Chelsea cleared. So close to a moment for Man City.
John Stones arrives at the start of the current part and City’s other submarines heat up on the sidelines. As they do so, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva receive a warm welcome. City enthusiasts and players are having an old time there.
The part at the moment is underway and there are no adjustments for either team.

HALF-TIME: Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea: The hosts looked smart to start the first half and Julian Alvarez gave them a deserved lead, but Chelsea had some chances. Marginal stars play. It’s scary how smart your XI moment is.
There is a pause after this wave of opportunities for Chelsea. Frank Lampard’s team is in damage limitation mode. Manchester City plays not to get hurt.
MAIL! Another possibility for Chelsea, as Conor Gallagher’s header hit the post and then broke Ortega’s knee and bounced clearly.
SAVE! First great chance of the game for Chelsea, as Enzo Fernandez did very well in midfield and Kai Havertz discovered Raheem Sterling, but his low shot was brilliantly saved through Stefan Ortega.
Meanwhile, back on court (there’s a game up for grabs, you know?), Phil Foden unleashes a tricky effort right outdoors in the aftermath. Foden, do you see it? Just one of the most productive young players on the planet who has been City’s replacement for the peak of this season due to injury.
There is a genuine festive atmosphere here. City enthusiasts don’t even watch the game. They see Poznan in the stands. Delicious stuff.
NEAR! Cole Palmer’s deflected shot was cleared from the line by Chalobah. It’s embarrassing coming from Chelsea. Man City play fluid throughout their midfield.
There is an occasional rendition of “stand up, for the champions!”Local enthusiasts and most enthusiasts stand up and applaud. Much appreciation for a third consecutive victory. This kind of dominance will never be boring for Man City enthusiasts.
A brilliant and fluid move involving academy graduates Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis ended with Alvarez getting in Foden’s way, then Mahrez’s shot was deflected.
GOALLL! Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea – Julian Alvarez returns home and the party continues here at the Etihad. It all came about when Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana gave the ball away and Palmer stepped forward to place Alvarez at home. Too simple for City. On the field, the party early.
Chelsea don’t have it yet and that’s all Man City. Cole Palmer sees a lot of ball down the left.
City have already had 3 chances. Kalvin Phillips, Sergio Gomez and Riyad Mahrez are all involved.

We’re getting closer to the start here and the city’s submarines have a great tracking game. De Bruyne, Rodri, Grealish, Stones, Gundogan and Dias are all involved. Not bad crew. . .
The starting line-ups are there and Manchester City have travelled a lot. It’s still the team they put together, but just take a look at this bench. Manuel Akanji and Kyle Walker are the only two to retain their starting spots since the win over Real Madrid. Chelsea have made many adjustments since their draw with Nottingham Forest, with the arrival of Kepa, Cesar Azpilicueta, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kai Havertz and Wesley Fofana.
Hello and welcome to Etihad! The sun is shining, flags and banners are lit and Manchester City fans are celebrating as they celebrate the 2022-23 Premier League name victory. The whole atmosphere here.
Is there sadness for City after the emergence of Real Madrid? It seems unlikely, but stranger things have happened in the Premier League. Erling Haaland continues to rewrite the books of goal records in a single season in the Premier League, and Kevin De Bruyne will once again lead the department in assists.
Do Frank Lampard’s Blues have anything in the tank? Can opportunity help them find a quality appearance that matches their skill and reputation?Players like Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta have the character to lead the Blues, but they seem cooked more than not.

LIVERPOOL – Everton were saved from first Premier League relegation on the final day of the season as Abdoulaye Doucoure, the hero with their big winner against Bournemouth.
That sound you can hear is that of Everton fans.
FULL REPRODUCTION OF THE MATCH
At half-time, Leicester won against West Ham, meaning Everton were relegated for the first time in the PL era and their hopes of extending their active high-flying streak to 70 consecutive seasons were in real jeopardy. Goodison was full of boos and photographs of doom at the last whistle.
But Doucoure smashed a magnificent goal with just over 30 minutes left to drive Goodison Park wild, while Bournemouth drove hard for a beaten draw, but Everton held on and got the win they needed to stay in place.
Sean Dyche was relieved when the final whistle blew as Everton won five of their 17 games and kept their most sensitive history of pride intact despite the turmoil in the club scenes.
They settled with five at the back early on and it was just too negative. Dyche understood. All they needed was a loose ball to bring down the right central midfielder and he did it the moment Doucoure finished. It was a brilliant finish to what was not a brilliant game. But Everton and Dyche don’t care. With many injuries they found a way to do it and the history books show that Everton have never been relegated from the Premier League and only Arsenal have a more sensible active streak as they will be playing at the most productive table in England next time around. . season. Array its 70th in a row at the highest level. Off the pitch, there are financial issues to be resolved that may be fair for next season, but Dyche has done his homework and if Everton are smart, he deserves to give him the team to break things apart and rebuild the team. Being like this can no longer give Everton a place. They said last season still look at what happened. This time they have to make sure that they will never be in the fall of the descent again. A club of the stature of Everton deserves to never be in this situation.

Abdoulaye Doucoure: He scored a good appearance by being the hero and brilliant in midfield.
Mark Travers: He made some smart shots and clearances.
Alex Iwobi: He showed genuine leadership and went deeper. Bright.
James Tarkowski: a mountain guy at the back, clearing everything Bournemouth threw at Everton late.

SAVE! Jordan Pickford makes a save to deny a volley from Vina.
10 minutes of downtime. ten!
Bournemouth take a free kick when the clock strikes the minute. . .
Everton are doing their best to stay, but they are falling deep. Bournemouth tried. After Pickford falls in love with a wild treatment, there will be plenty of downtime.
GOALLL! Everton 1-0 Bournemouth – Goodison Park went crazy. Abdoulaye Doucoure hit a surprising house to put the Toffees in front.

WHAT LUCK! A loose kick is introduced and falls on Demarai Gray from 6 yards. He directs it directly to Travers. Then Bournemouth kind of. House enthusiasts can’t.
The moment part is underway. There is no replacement for Everton. It’s very tense here.
HALF-TIME: Everton 0-0 Bournemouth – Half-time to loud boos from the home fans.
SAVE! Mark Travers with a punch and then pushes James Garner’s curly shot away from the edge of the area.

BLOCK! What a block from Yerry Mina after Bournemouth made the most of a poor Everton defence. Excellent from David Brooks there.
You feel like things were very defensive from the start of Sean Dyche, as he said with five backs.
NEAR! Senesi twisted a deflected shot from the post of the moment after Bournemouth wreaked havoc in the area. The atmosphere is very, very quiet here.
Firstly, as things stand, Leicester City won 1-0 against West Ham. With Everton pulling here at Goodison against Bournemouth, the Toffees are down. Chants of “pass, pass!” Bournemouth enthusiasts outside. Everton fans are stunned.
BEST WISHES! Idrissa Gana Gueye plays his shot is deflected. It should be 1-0 at Everton. Moments later, Travers deflects a shot from distance.
A cross is dug into the area and there is no Everton player nearby. Great cries of discontent from the local fans. They have more offensive intent from their team.
House enthusiasts push their team. Everton see the ball a lot, but the most common is from wide positions.
Demarai Gray with half a chance when clearing, but his shot/cross is cleared near the post.
BEGIN! We are on the march and the beginning has been tense. Everton fans are urging their team, but they are in a five-man defence.

The nerves are still running here in Goodison. There are 45 minutes left until kick-off. Everton enthusiasts just need it to get started. It will have to be unbearable for them. Meanwhile, outside, Bournemouth enthusiasts have a great time in the sun. Absolutely opposite atmosphere.
While we are in the press box of the main stand of Goodison, you can hear a wall of noise coming from the stadium from all angles. Great building atmosphere here.
Team news is available and there are two adjustments for Everton as Conor Coady repositions the injured Nathan Patterson. Demarai Gray up front in the position of the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin. It looks like Coady is on the right side and McNeil is on the left. -behind. Bournemouth will be without their captain and star goalkeeper Neto, absent for non-public reasons.
Hello and welcome to Goodison Park, where nerves collide, the sun shines and flares are numerous! The equation is undeniable for Everton: win and they will stand still. Lose or draw and your protection is out of your hands. A few intense hours.
Where nerves collide, glows and flares are numerous.
An intense day awaits the last day of the season for Everton. Can they stand their ground and secure a 70th consecutive high-flying season?#EFC #EVEBOU pic. twitter. com/xOjxY0gyF8

Everton have been through this ordeal with injuries in recent weeks and the fact that Calvert-Lewin is suffering again means Dyche can play without a recognised striker on the final day. Defensively, they have problems at the back, but they held on and aguantaron. la house crowd cheered them on several times as they are one win away from safety.
Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto has been out of level, as have Dominic Solanke and Dango Ouattara at the other end of the pitch, as there has been great balance over the Cherries in recent months as they have been without too much tension at the end. In the other game in November, Bournemouth beat Everton 3-0 to trigger ugly away scenes as Everton fans turned on their players and demanded and were incredibly disappointed during the display.

The relegation symbol took centre stage in terms of headlines ahead of the final week of the Premier League season, but several clubs took advantage of their final match of the season to show fans what could be imagined in the future.
Arsenal still showed preference in their tank despite a bad run, Manchester United showed seriousness in their return offer and Southampton shouted at the league to keep an eye on the Saints.
[MORE: How to watch the Premier League in the United States]
But, yes, it’s all at Goodison Park, where Everton did what it took to claim another season in the Premier League and the enthusiasts made sure the club knew that one day of good fortune doesn’t make up for two seasons of wonderful struggles. .
This is where our writers live, as Joe Prince-Wright (JPW), Andy Edwards (AE), and Nicholas Mendola (NM) share their observations on newer PL games.
1. Toffees shake off slow start, save Premier League prestige (Everton 1-0 AFC Bournemouth): Everton were five behind from the start and were too negative. Sean Dyche gave it to him well. All they needed was a loose ball that fell down the right and put pressure on the central midfielder and it did so as Abdoulaye Doucoure’s shot on goal. It was a brilliant end to what was not a brilliant game (Dyche called it “hidden”). Off the pitch, there are financial issues to be resolved that may be fair for next season, but Dyche has done his homework and if Everton are smart, he deserves to give him the team to tear things apart and rebuild the team. Being like this can no longer give Everton a place. They said last season still look at what happened. This time they have to make sure that they will never be in the fall of the descent again. A club of the stature of Everton deserves to never be in this situation. (JPW)
2. Too little, too late for the Foxes because victory is not enough (Leicester 2-1 West Ham): “Too little, too late” is possibly the story of the Foxes season. Leicester failed to arrange their hiring plans, somewhat limited by monetary fair play, and then put too much religion in Brendan Rodgers to make things work. Dean Smith received a few performances from this man, little more than Sunday, but it still feels like a fait accompli: Sometimes the total thing is less than the sum of its parts. Despite the great seasons of Harvey Barnes and James Maddison, that was it. There’s also the factor of betting on a draw against Newcastle on Monday, but let’s not criticise Dean Smith for taking a calculated due risk. He deserves more. (NEW MEXICO)
3. The last game of Leeds’ relegation crusade is all too familiar (Leeds 1-3 Spurs) – it was a nightmare start for Leeds, who needed not only a win but also trouble to fall at the same time through Everton and leicester. about them. Tottenham’s first foray into Leeds’ penalty domain ended with Kane hammering the ball past Joel Robles. The moment frame was a new part but the same story for Leeds, who once conceded just a minute back in the moment part. Kane became provider this time, as he lobbed a blind ball into the channel for the straddle of Pedro Porro, who slightly missed the point with Robles smothering the near post. But, Porro placed an exact shot just inside the far post from a tight angle. Big Sam couldn’t fix the defense and maybe it was beyond repair. Leeds was not left with a blank slate after February 25. At least they have given their fans a purpose in almost every single game of this relegation race. (AE).
4. Ten Hag’s men finish strong to reset the criteria (Manchester United 2-1 Fulham): It’s hard not to communicate together after a league Sunday like this where the smartest four were sought before the start of the day in England. Manchester United are as compatible as they have been for some time, having had good fortune this season while building since their foundation. Yes, the club still has older key pieces in Casemiro and Raphael Varane, but Erik ten Hag’s formula looks for finer ingredients and the boss will now have a clever idea of which portions paint and which portions are for someone else’s project. It was a smart and lucky year for Manchester United, the guy who will secure that good fortune at Manchester United is measured in a new but still very familiar way: through greater ambition. (NM)
5. The Gunners show they are hungry for more (Arsenal 5-0 Wolves): It would have been easy for Arsenal to finish this off given their poor end to the season that prevented them from winning the Premier League title. But the young Gunners dug in and inspired by completing a high note and showed they were hungry to close the hole at Man City next season. They can and with a smart recruitment in midfield and defence this summer, Arsenal can gain the extra team intensity they want to have. More endurance next season. It’s more than a 5-0 victory. It’s about proving that they’re here to stay. And so it is. (JPW)
6. Saints show ability to pass straight back (Southampton 4-4 Liverpool): It was a sad day for the Saints, but in James Ward-Prowse, Carlos Alcaraz and Kamaldeen Sulemana, they showed that they have skilled players who can lead the league playoffs. Push next season. But will those star players still be there? The Saints will now have to cut the dead wood, start over with a new coach and make their maximum productivity to keep the six or more players they have on their current team who will start. in the league. Saints will have to stick to the way Fulham and Bournemouth bounced back when they restarted this summer. There are stars in the Saints, but they needed defensive solidity, a clear taste of the game and more fun to make the most of their undeniable abilities. . (JPW).
7. The Blues get a family lesson in the draw (Chelsea 1-1 Newcastle): at home against a Newcastle side that outplays its most productive goalkeeper and throws several second-choice players, adding teenagers Anthony Gordon and Elliot Anderson, Chelsea deserve to have been able to finish this season with a win. But the team without finals could not finish and left the stadium with a 1-1 draw and the prestige of their back still baffles their skill level. Mauricio Pochettino, if he arrives as expected, wants to get a clinical ending, but let’s be honest: Chelsea will likely get a coach of Pochettino’s fame at the club during Frank Lampard’s completely forgettable tenure as caretaker boss. Is it still August? (NEW MEXICO)
8. Bees ends with a win over well-changed champions (Brentford 1-0 Man City): The wait for the sole purpose of the game was long, but Brentford enthusiasts were able to celebrate once again in the final season a brilliant moment in the smartest flight. Bryan Mbeumo returned the ball to Ethan Pinnock, who entered the penalty field unmarked. Pinnock guided a low shot off Ederson’s win to secure the No. 1 win. City started Rico Lewis, Kalvin Phillips, Cole Palmer and Sergio Gomez. , and his only submarine was 19-year-old newcomer Shea Charles. They still outscored the hosts 17-11 while keeping 66% of the ball. (EA)
9. Cooper, Hodgson finish an unexpected task well done (Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest): neither Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper nor his Palace counterpart Roy Hodgson would have seen themselves in that precise position before this season. Yes, Cooper could have. I thought it would take time for him to adjust to the Premier League, but did he expect some final weekends with no real repercussions?Probably not, but he did very well navigating what has become a protracted process and Forest did well to stick with the guy who brought them to the PL. Hodgson retired at the start of the season and it came as a surprise to Guyy that Palace severed ties with Patrick Vieira to bring Hodgson back. However, the club legend did well immediately, and is only to be loved more if he makes the decision to retire (again). (NM)
10. Emery brings Villa back to Europe (Aston Villa 2-1 Brighton): Aston Villa ended Unai Emery’s first (partial) season by qualifying for the Europa Conference League with a 2-1 win over Brighton at Villa Park on Sunday. Brighton (62 numbers – 6th place) reached the final matchday of the 2022-23 season having already qualified for next season’s Europa League, which will be the Seagulls’ first time at a European festival in the club’s history, and Villa were keen to sign up for them. Alan Shearer is the scoring king in the Premier League, Harry Kane is in the running to challenge for his crown.
Shearer scored 260 Premier League goals during his distinguished career with Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, and that figure is all the more impressive when you know that his first professional seasons were played before the Premier League era with Southampton.
Wayne Rooney’s career, developed almost entirely in the Premier League, saw him become the player at the moment to score more than two hundred goals in the competition. The former Manchester United and Everton star has 208 goals.
