It is the third consecutive name for City and the fifth in six seasons for a team that dominates English football. And it may be just the start of a historic treble this quarter, with the Champions League and FA Cup finals still to come.

“We thought we could do it. This organization of guys are professionals and winners,” defender Kyle Walker said. “Don’t worry, we’re not done. We have the FA Cup against our fierce rivals (Manchester United) and then the Champions League.
“We’re going to celebrate tonight and then we’ll go through to create history. “
Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday saw City show themselves champions even before their final home game of the campaign.
That meant Guardiola could simply call Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, John Stones and Ederson to the bench. But even in his absence, City secured victory with World Cup winner Alvarez scoring the decisive goal.

The Argentine foreigner overshadowed through Haaland’s record-breaking exploits, however, showed his quality with a clinical finish after controlling Cole Palmer’s pass.
City never succeeded in the heights of recent defeats by Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid, but did not want it after Alvarez’s purpose put them on track for victory early on.
Chelsea had a multitude of chances thanks to Raheem Sterling, in particular, and Conor Gallagher could have tied the score by hitting the post with a header in the first half.
Kalvin Phillips hit the woodwork for City after half-time and Alvarez saw a momentary goal sent off via VAR after Riyad Mahrez controlled preparation.
Haaland and De Bruyne arrived in the current half, but could move up to City’s lead.
Not that enthusiasts complained about a day that was going to be dedicated to the post-game party and were eager to reunite their heroes with the final whistle.
Fans flooded the field after the final whistle, holding celebratory banners and throwing blue smoke canisters.

The City players were then recorded chanting “We are the champions” in the dressing room before heading out to the trophy presentation with bursts of tickers.
