An increase in covid-19’s number of positive cases at Manchester City forced the postponement of the club’s English Premier League match at Everton on Monday.
“Following the last circular of the Covid-19 tests, the club has returned a number of positive cases, in addition to the 4 already reported on Christmas Day,” the City said on a website.
“Because bubble protection was compromised, there is a threat that the virus will spread more between your computer, staff and potentially beyond.
“Based on good medical advice, the Premier League, in consultation with any of the clubs, has to postpone the match. “
On Christmas Day, City showed that striker Gabriel Jesus and defender Kyle Walker, as well as two members, had tested positive for Covid-19.
Monday’s game is scheduled to start at 8pm local time at Goodison Park in Liverpool.
The start date and time has yet been decided, according to Everton.
