Manchester City are sweating over Erling Haaland’s fitness after he sprained his ankle while on duty overseas.
Haaland came on at half-time of Norway’s narrow win over the Faroe Islands and found himself behind clutching his ankle, gambling until the end of the match despite significant pain.
The Norwegian team’s doctor, Ola Sand, revealed that they had contacted City after the match and the club’s sports therapist, Mario Pafundi, who travels with Haaland when he is away from home.
That will be a real fear for City ahead of a series of games after the international break. Pep Guardiola’s side host Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime in the first leg second leg and face Tottenham a week later, before travelling to a stadium in top form. Aston Villa.
Haaland was forced to withdraw from Bournemouth earlier this month with an ankle injury, and Sand showed that problem repeats itself.
“It’s more or less the same as what happened against Bournemouth a week and a half ago,” he told TV2.
“He’s had it before. He has a slight twist at his ankle, where he is a little vulnerable. It hurts a lot right away and then goes away pretty quickly. Then we’ll see how it goes.
“Now he will get treatment, then there will be peace and rest and then we will see how he does in the morning. “
City goalkeeper Ederson is already a doubt for the Liverpool game, having withdrawn from the Brazilian national team after injuring his foot against Chelsea, while Rodri was in danger for Spain’s clash against Cyprus after feeling “discomfort” in training.
John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne remain out, and there are fitness issues linked to Nathan Ake, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Sergio Gomez ahead of a hectic series of matches.
