Manchester City lead Manchester United in the race for AC Milan prodigy Francesco Camarda

NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

AC Milan’s teenage striker Francesco Camarda is attracting attention across Europe, and both Manchester clubs are interested in the possibility.

Earlier this season, Camarda became the youngest player in Serie A history when he came off the bench in a 1-0 win over Fiorentina.

The striker was just 15 years and 260 days old at the time and has since turned 16, with a big resolution to make about his long career this summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that AC Milan have reached a preliminary agreement for a new three-year contract for Camarda, which has yet to be signed.

Borussia Dortmund have long been credited with signing the youngster, as have Manchester City and Manchester United.

Premier League clubs have a challenge as Brexit regulations mean Camarda can’t move to England until he’s 18, but City are in a better position than United on that front.

Serie B side Palermo are part of the City Group, so Camarda could spend some time there before joining the Etihad when he turns 18 in March 2026.

The teenage star has spoken in the afterlife about not having a football hero he admires, but that he has learned from a diversity of strikers from the afterlife and the present.

“I don’t have an idol, I have 4 or five players that I would like to emulate. Like [Luis] Suarez, [Karim] Benzema, there are some,” he said.

“I don’t have a real idol. Thinking about the past, I watch [Marco] Van Basten’s videos. You just have to appreciate them and try to imitate them.
