Manchester City midfielder Roord has ACL injury | football

The Cityzens announced the news in a post on their club’s official website this afternoon.

Roord sustained the injury during Tuesday night’s 2-1 victory over neighbours Manchester United in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup at The Joie Stadium. The Dutch international left the field in the first half with just nine minutes on the clock.

Roord’s injury has now been fully assessed by the Manchester City medical team and it has been confirmed that she has ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). The midfielder will now miss the remainder of the season while she is unlikely to be fit for the start of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Manchester City signed Roord last summer from German club VfL Wolfsburg. The player signed a three-year contract with the Cityzens that will last until the summer of 2026. Roord has all 11 of Manchester City’s matches in the Barclays Women’s Super League this season. scoring six goals. The player turned out to be the missing piece of Manchester City’s puzzle.

With Roord out of action for the foreseeable future, Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor could jump into the transfer market next week to bolster his squad.
