Manchester City vs Ipswich LIVE Commentary: Rodri still missing as champions face Tractor Boys: Kick-off time, news and talkSPORT coverage

Manchester City continue their bid for Premier League glory this afternoon when they host Ipswich, exclusively on talkSPORT 2.

The reigning champions began their fourth consecutive defence with a 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last Sunday.

Goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic got them off to a winning start, but now all eyes will be on the Etihad.

The first home game of the season for Pep Guardiola’s team will be against Ipswich, who began their first crusade in the top flight in 22 years with a defeat against Liverpool.

Haaland’s statistics for Manchester City are ridiculous.

He has already reached one hundred games with the club and in those appearances he has curiously contributed 106 goals.

The Norwegian scored 91 goals and provided 15 assists with an average of goals per 76 minutes.

Of his 91 goals, he also scored nine hat-tricks.

In addition to his success, Haaland has also won five major trophies at the club and is aiming for several more this season.

For Ipswich, the prospect of facing him will fill them with joy, and rightly so. . .

Haaland has scored in the 22 he has played in the Premier League and now the Tractor Boys are his new prey.

They will seek to achieve that statistic in the 23 teams they will face this weekend and, if they score, they will reach 14 goals in 10 top-flight games in the month of August.

This Premier League clash will take place on Saturday, August 24.

Kick-off at Etihad Stadium is scheduled for p. m.

talkSPORT 2 will have an EXCLUSIVE game policy presented through Faye Carruthers.

The comments will come from Ian Danter and former Arsenal winger Perry Groves.

After beating Chelsea, Manchester City manager Guardiola admitted he “didn’t expect” to perform so well at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “I didn’t expect it. We are far from our best level, so three problems are good news. The bad news is that we have 65 games ahead of us.

“We have an advantage, it’s our ninth season together, so we know the others well.

“Of course there are mistakes you want to make, but we talked, the difference to being champions was our framework language, how do we behave?

“It’s the bad moments of the season and the games that shape wonderful teams.

“For me, it’s an honor to lead those guys. I’m so lucky I can’t say more.

“There is a plan, defensive, offensive. But then we celebrate the times and come back from the bad times.

“It’s what defines those groups and nobody talks about it. For a while, we may never win at Stamford Bridge. It’s a big step. “
