Erling Haaland will face Liverpool on Saturday in Manchester City’s premier Premier League clash, sources told ESPN, after returning from an injury setback overseas.
Haaland, who leads the Premier League scoring charts with thirteen goals this season, injured his ankle in Norway’s friendly over the Faroe Islands last Thursday and was forced to withdraw from the squad for Euro 2024 qualifying against Scotland because of the issue.
The Norwegian team doctor said Haaland was suffering “very seriously” from his injury, compounding a similar challenge encountered in the match against Bournemouth this previous season.
But after returning to City for treatment earlier this week, Haaland returned to training on Thursday to give manager Pep Guardiola a boost in the squad ahead of this weekend’s clash with second-placed Liverpool.
City’s official X account tonight posted a photo of Haaland in action on the club’s educational floor to mark the 23-year-old’s return to fitness.
Guardiola will give an update on Haaland’s recovery in his pre-match press conference ahead of Friday’s game.
