Marcus Rashford is in a position to face the pain to help Manchester United temporarily emerge from his disappointment in the Champions League.
United missed the qualifying for the 16th match after losing 3–2 to RB Leipzig mid-week, which allowed the German team to sign for Paris Saint-Germain to move from a tricky group.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will be in their position in the Europa League in 2021: he reached the semi-finals of the festival last season, where he lost to eventual champion Sevilla.
There is little time to live on what happened in Leipzig when Manchester’s next derby is as follows: with the City visiting an ideal place for United to redeem itself, according to Rashford.
“If everyone can pick a game after a defeat, it’s the Manchester derby,” the England alien told United’s official website.
“This is the greatest opportunity to redeem yourself, as an individual and as a team. We have to do it together. We win as a team and lose as a team. That’s what it is.
“We’ll have to look ahead to give everything the opposite of the City, then the same thing in the next game, and so on. I think it’s vital the faster we leave this game [in the middle of the week], the better. “
Rashford missed the end of United’s Champions League loss to PSG on 2 December due to a shoulder problem, as he was replaced in the break in last week’s 3–1 win over West Ham.
The 23-year-old striker insists he can continue to bet with an injury, as United points to a lousy house record so far this season, having amassed only four numbers in five games at Old Trafford.
However, the Red Devils won any of the league games with City last season: they won three in a row at the festival against their neighbors during a four-game era between November 2008 and April 2010.
Solskjaer’s record against his City counterpart, Pep Guardiola, is also impressive, having won 3 of his last derby matches.
In assessing his injury situation, Rashford said, “I have to check to control the things I can control. I don’t care about the rest. I’ll play it right.
“I know I’m healthy, I smile and I’m in a position to play. I don’t need to miss any games, especially the big big games.
“If I feel like I can calm the team down by scoring goals, running hard and giving assists, there’s no explanation why I can’t play with a little pain. “
