MANCHESTER, CT – With $1. 2 million in the bank to buy a former pig farm in Silk City, Manchester Land Conservation Trust now faces the arduous task of raising the remaining portion in a million dollars to cover the sale price.
Here’s the 102-acre Lombard Farm situation in Hillstown and Bush Hill Roads:
Fundraising can be discovered on the trust’s website.
The Manchester Land Trust proposal will charge 102 acres to Bush Hill Preserve, part of the reserve known as Botti Farm purchased with the help of a 2016 OSWA grant.
Lombardo Farm is surrounded by open spaces and would allow passive recreation with the structure of trails connecting Bush Hill Preserve.
You will have access along the 2,000-foot facade of assets on Hillstown Road. A mature forest and a small pond fed through a wildlife habitat of spring supply. An open grassland provides habitat for migratory birds and “pollinating species”.
The cities of Manchester, East Hartford and Glastonbury are within easy reach of the site.
