Cologne: Manchester United and Inter Milan face the Europa League semi-finals on Tuesday after winning their respective quarter-finals.
Manchester United won 1-0 over Copenhagen in Cologne, Germany. Both played aggressively and prevented the front.
However, in the 95th minute, Manchester United received a penalty after Anthony Martial was the victim of a foul in the area. Bruno Fernandes took over and was not wrong to put his club against Copenhagen.
Manchester United will face the Wolves or Sevilla in the semi-finals on 17 August.
Inter Milan, meanwhile, won a 2–1 win over Bayer Leverkusen in Dusseldorf. Nicolo Barella scored the first goal of the game in the 15th minute, giving Inter Milan a one-way lead.
With Romelu Lukaku doubling the lead, Romelu Lukaku scored a brilliant goal in the 21st minute. However, three minutes later, Bayer Leverkusen controlled the deficit while Kai Havertz scored a goal, putting the score at 2–1.
In the semi-finals, Inter Milan will face FC Basel or Shakhtar Donetsk on 18 August.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte said he was “really satisfied” with his club’s “excellent performance” against Bayer Leverkusen.
“Everyone is satisfied because we did a wonderful performance. We prepare the game in the right and controlled way to prevent Bayer Leverkusen from playing.” The online page quoted Conte.
“We may have simply crossed in a more comfortable way because, even though we never had to dig, the result was close. However, I can only congratulate the boys because they sought to show that we are spending a wonderful season,” he added.
On the other hand, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested his team for their game after their narrow 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen.
“We had to be disciplined, we had to be patient and in the end that patience worked for us. We created enough to win the match,” Solskjaer said in UEFA.com at the end of the match.
“We hit the post several times and were unlucky with some VAR (critical). It was the right decisions, but we may have been better over time in our careers and everything,” he added.
“We want to do it in many ways. But if you create as many opportunities as today, we’d like to be more clinical and effective and score when we have them,” said the Norwegian.
