The centre-back joined Atalanta’s academy from Brescia in 2015, progressing through the Italian club’s age teams before making his first-team debut in 2021.
The 20-year-old Scalvini has already made important appearances for his current team, scoring four goals and recording four assists.
The Italian international has also been an Atalanta player this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists in 27 appearances in all competitions.
Scalvini is under contract with La Dea until June 2028, but there has been a lot of speculation about his future over the last year due to his impressive performances.
According to Calciomercato, Man United have contacted Atalanta to discuss a decision, with the defender’s sale value said to be around €39. 7 million (£34 million).
The news claims that the English club’s big party this summer will probably come from Borussia Dortmund, who have also contacted the Italian team.
Man United, however, signed Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta last year, while also negotiating a deal for Amad Diallo from the Italian team in January 2021.
There is believed to be a strong relationship between the two clubs, which may give the 20-time English champions the edge when it comes to negotiating trades.
