Manchester United are reportedly interested in FC Barcelona’s Sergino Dest.
United have lately two top-level right-backs in the form of Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
For a time, it was Wan-Bissaka who ruled the right-back position, with Dalot as a more than marginal option.
However, under Ralf Rangnick and now Erik ten Hag, it is clear that the latter is regarded as the No. 1 option, meaning Wan-Bissaka doesn’t have much time at the club.
Now, movement expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the United right-back’s stage, linking the club to Dest as he does so:
“More recently, I also saw the hypothesis involving Manchester United and the England international, and I perceive that they might be open to signing a new right-back at some point, but that will depend on the long term of Aaron Wan-Bissaka,” Romano. Explained.
“At the moment, Man United has not opened any discussions for Dest. They are waiting for offers for Wan-Bissaka; there were still contacts with Crystal Palace, so there are no official negotiations.
Barcelona recovered Sergino Dest in October 2020 from the Dutch power plant Ajax. The Blaugrana are believed to have paid around €21 million to bring the right-back back to the Camp Nou, a move that as a deal forged at the time, with Dest appearing to be the newest in a long line of big stars emerging from the Johan Cruijff Arena.
However, Dest’s passage through Catalonia has proven to be undeniable SoArray, on the other hand, the young full-back has been a victim of the existing crisis that Barça is going through as a club.
And, under current coach Xavi Hernandez, Dest struggled for minutes, this is also partly due to injuries and covid issues.
