The refusal of players to move to the Emirates Stadium in favour of Old Trafford comes as a surprise these days, as the Gunners can offer football goals for the UEFA Champions League, while the Red Devils can put the UEFA Europa League on the table.
Despite this, one striker has chosen Manchester United over Arsenal. . .
An article from The Athletic now claims that Manchester United are going to sign Joshua Zirkzee.
It comes just days after Caught Offaspect claimed the Dutch foreigner had to forget about Arsenal in favour of a deal with Erik ten Hag’s side at stake.
Athletic Zirkzee, who some have described as “better than Erling Haaland”, have reached a non-public agreement with Manchester United, while the Red Devils have also reached an agreement on the agents commission.
That amount is described as “significant”: Manchester United are content to spend heavily on it, given that the payment for the Dutchman’s move is just £34m, due to a release clause.
Zirkzee enjoyed a crusade in 2023/24 helping Bologna qualify for the UEFA Champions League, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in 34 Serie A appearances.
At first glance, it appears that Arsenal have deliberated between Zirkzee and Sporting CP number 9 Viktor Gyokeres in the summer, so Manchester United’s progress in talks to sign the Dutchman could see the Swedish foreigner move to north London.
Portuguese media outlet Leonino, especially committed to Sporting CP, recently claimed that Arsenal were close to signing the Swede for £76m after he scored 43 goals in 50 appearances last season.

In our opinion, Arsenal would possibly have been waiting to see what happened with Zirkzee (who is evidently much less expensive due to his release clause) before moving to Gyokeres, so don’t be surprised to see an offer for Sporting CP No. 9. Speed up if Bologna’s number 9 travels to Old Trafford.
