Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot arrives at AC Milan on loan for one season

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has joined AC Milan on loan for one season.

The agreement comes with a legal option or responsibility for Milan to purchase the player at the end of the loan and will pay his salary for the entire stay.

The Portuguese under-21 right-back has struggled to make a normal place in Old Trafford’s first-team squad following the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace in June 2019.

“Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot will spend the rest of the 2020/21 season getting invaluable delight in Italy after making a transition move to AC Milan,” United said on the club’s website.

“Everyone at United wishes Diogo the best of luck on his stay in Italy. “

Dalot, who will wear the number five shirt for Milan, has made 35 appearances for United since moving to 19 million pounds since Porto in June 2018, the recent high of which the full 90 minutes of the Carabao Cup won 3-0 at Brighton on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old becomes the player leaving the club for Serie A this week, and midfielder Andreas Pereira joins Lazio on a one-season loan.

Rome also continues to support Chris Smalling and they are confident they can make a permanent move for the central half.

Smalling, 30, was loaned to Serie A giants last season, but was frozen at Old Trafford after his return, only with education and being ignored by all united day teams this season.
