Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was arrested after a fight on the Greek island of Mykonos on Friday and will face fees from a prosecutor, according to a police officer.
George Georgiopoulos and Lefteris Papadimas of Reuters reported that the local police officer said Maguire beat up a police officer in an argument. He was one of the other three people arrested.
“The footballer verbally abused an officer and then hit him,” the police officer said. “The three resisted when they were taken to Mykonos Police Station.”
Manchester United issued a report on the situation.
“The club is aware of an alleged incident involving Maguire in Mykonos last night. Contacts have been established with Harry, and he is cooperating fully with the Greek authorities. At this point, we’ll talk more.”
The police officer said Maguire and the two detainees would be transported to the nearby island of Syros to take care of it.
