NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Galatasaray are set to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay this summer and negotiations for the Turkish club’s vice-presidency are ongoing.
The 27-year-old has been at Manchester United for his entire career so far, it seemed like he was most likely to leave a year ago.
The midfielder gave the impression of having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and West Ham were interested in signing him, but saw an offer of £30m rejected.
McTominay remained with the Red Devils and, due to a series of injuries to his teammates during the campaign, he played regularly, making 43 appearances in all competitions and scoring 10 goals.
The Scotland international was in the starting line-up as United stunned Manchester City to win the FA Cup final in May.
A sale of McTominay this summer seemed much less likely than last year, but Galatasaray’s vice president considered it an absolute possibility.
Ibrahim Hatipoglu told CNN Turk: “We are interested in players from the Premier League and Manchester United.
“There is nothing more herbaceous than the maximum load of this measure. There are discussions related to your move-in fee. For us, the overall charge, adding up transfer fees and player accounts receivable [salary], is the time to make the decision.
“Once the negotiations with the club and the player have been completed, everything becomes evident. “
Elaborating, he said, through Haber Sarı Kirmizi, that Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojberg is also a target.
“McTominay’s move is under discussion,” Hatipoglu said. “Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is a player, he has many suitors, he needs to see all the options. “
