NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Manchester United have opened an investigation into Real Madrid striker Joselu, according to reports in Spain.
The 34-year-old joined Real Madrid on loan from Espanyol last summer and has scored 14 in 38 games this season.
Madrid have the option to make the €1. 5 million (£1. 2m) deal permanent this summer from their loan deal with Espanyol, who are pushing for promotion to La Liga this season.
Meanwhile, United are keen to sign a striker at the end of the season as they failed to bolster Erik ten Hag’s attack in the January window.
According to Relevo, United’s hierarchy has taken a first step for Joselu to assess his potential transfer fees for the summer transfer window.
Speaking about his long career last week, the former Stoke City and Newcastle United striker made it clear that his preference is to stay in Madrid.
“I hope to be with Real Madrid for an indefinite contract,” Joselu told ABC.
“I had a clause that if Espanyol went down I could stay on loan. Well, Madrid had the opportunity, they thought it was convenient to provoke it. And here I am.
“Well, a contract, an option to buy, Madrid can buy me this summer. “There are a lot of situations, if Espanyol don’t get promoted, if they let it go. A lot can happen.
