Paul Scholes has been appointed transitority manager of Salford City after Ligue 2 club fired Graham Alexander on Monday (more news).
Manchester United legend had an unfortunate 31-day time at the helm of his fourth division club, Oldham Athletic, last year.
It comes after Salford, undefeated in the league this season, terminated Alexander’s contract after a reign that began in May 2018 and included a promotion to the National Conference.
Scholes’ first head to Salford, who conceded a two-goal lead to tie Tranmere Rovers 2-2 on Saturday, will be at Port Vale this weekend.
The 45-year-old is one of Salford’s co-owners, along with former United teammates David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Gary and Phil Neville who have invested in the club.
