NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Manchester United are reportedly pursuing Juventus star Gleison Bremer, following the advice of new director Dan Ashworth.
Ashworth looks set to become United’s first sporting director after being placed on leave through Newcastle United; The two clubs have yet to agree on compensation.
However, he would already have a say in his move policy in what will be a huge summer for the club, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to get them back on track.
According to the Daily Express, Bremer is on the Red Devils’ list of finalists and they have been following the centre-back for months.
And now they will pursue Brazil’s foreign policy after Ashworth graciously gave them the permission to do so.
United can reach an agreement and have already informed Juventus that they are willing to pay up to £43m to sign him.
The Serie A giants want between £50 million and £60 million but may be forced to settle for a lower offer because they want to sell players to ease their money problems.
Bremer joined Juventus two years ago for around £38m and was named in the final two groups of Serie A years, winning the award for the league’s most productive defender while playing for Turin in 2022.
The 27-year-old has only made three caps for Brazil but may be in action against some of his longtime United teammates when the Seleçao face England in a friendly on Saturday.
United are looking for a new centre-back, and Raphael Varane is due to leave Old Trafford this summer and the club are making plans to renew his contract.
