Bruno Fernandes is “receptive to leaving” Man Utd in the summer transfer window, with Inter Milan reportedly interested.
The Portuguese foreigner is widely regarded as the post-signing to Sir Alex Ferguson and has once again been one of the shining sparks in a dismal season for the Red Devils.
Fernandes hinted earlier this month that a summer departure from Man Utd could be on the cards, but insisted he focused on the rest of the season.
When asked recently about his future, Fernandes said: “Obviously, it’s not just up to me, right?
“A player will have to be here, but at the same time we will have to need him to stay. At the moment, I have the impression that this happens on both sides.
“I’m not thinking too much about the future, especially as obviously this season hasn’t been at the point I was hoping for, either separately or collectively, so far.
“So if I need you to be very honest, if I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League, it will be only after the European Championship, because nothing can divert my attention from the FA Cup final and the European Championship, because there is nothing more than that at the moment. “
When Ten Hag was asked on Tuesday about Fernandes’ future, he replied: “It’s the same question as last week. So I answered. The same answer. “
“Now and in all the years that he [at United], he is an incredibly vital player for Manchester United and created maximum chances in the Premier League. So many assists, so many goals. It’s clear that he’s a very vital player for us. .
A report today said Fernandes “is ready for the FA Cup final to be his swan song at Manchester United”, while another article claimed the Red Devils were “willing to do” a deal for the foreigner of Portugal with the interested Bayern Munich.
And now, the Manchester Evening News claims that “Manchester United players have doubts”, Fernandes “will be at the club next season” and the 29-year-old “would be receptive to leaving”.
The report adds that “Bayern Munich and Inter Milan would be interested” in Fernandes and Manchester United “would prefer to remain the captain of the club”, but “a significant offer for the attacking midfielder could trap United to cash”.
As well as receiving a lot of praise for his footballing skills, Fernandes is upsetting many fans, pundits and former players, with former Man Utd winger Lee Sharpe recently admitting his frustration with the captain.
Sharpe said: “I have to say that Bruno Fernandes bothers me. I don’t like him throwing himself in and raising his arms in the air as captain of Manchester United.
“You have to be calm when those around you lose their minds, but hand gestures, gestures and moans are what I don’t agree with. You have to be elegant when you’re the captain of Manchester United and he’s disappointed at this point.
“He works hard, but I think he’s a little undisciplined with his positional play. Running turns out to be hard work, but it leaves your peers exposed. He gets hot and cold with me, some parts of him are amazing, but others I find amazing. “You can take or leave.
“He has the ability to produce anything from nothing and his shooting speed is second to none, yet he sends the ball cost-effectively into dangerous areas. He tries to play the killer ball too occasionally, when he can simply still own the ball. “Against Liverpool, I think he touched the ball seven or eight times and gave it away every time. I turned to my spouse and said, “now he’s going to score a glorious goal,” and then, of course, he went to score. From his own half!
