LONDON, United Kingdom – Manchester United announced Tuesday (5 June) that they reached an agreement to point to Brazilian midfielder Fred of Shakhtar Donetsk as Jose Mourinho seeks to overthrow Premier League champion Manchester City.
The 25-year-old will charge English giants a reported payment of about 52 million pounds ($69 million) and give Mourinho a tough midfielder, with the Brazilian alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.
A on the club’s online page said: “Manchester United are extremely happy to announce that it has reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Frederico Rodrigues from Paula Santos (Fred).
“Another announcement will be made in due course. “

United finished moment in Premier League City, but 19 tracks were their fierce rivals.
And beating City to Fred’s signing, which will be the goal of English champions in January, can become a significant first step.
Fred turned his sights on Shakhtar’s streak to the 16th round of the Champions League, where Ukrainians lost only home goals to Rome.
A very good loose kick in the first leg that shows what Fred’s talented left foot can produce.
However, he is much more of an author than a goalter, as his record of only 15 goals in five years at Shakhtar suggests.
United want reinforcements in the middle of the field, with Michael Carrick in retreat and Marouane Fellaini without a contract.
Mourinho’s task will now be to exploit Fred’s passing ability, while nevertheless making the most of Pogba in his third season since the 89 million pound play from Juventus.
Fred hopes to have the same effect in the Premier League as fellow Brazilians abroad Willian and Fernandinho, who also arrived in England through a season with Shakhtar.
United enthusiasts are unlikely to be able to see Fred at the World Cup in Russia, as he does not yet have a foreigner with coach Tite.
In 2014, Fred’s career abroad was interrupted after positive for hydrochlorothiazide diuretics at the 2015 Copa América.
He banned foreign football for a year through the South American governing framework CONEMBOL, but lost only four months to Shakhtar because FIFA did not extend the ban to all confederations until February 2016.
Fred did not return to the national team before the 3-0 win over Russia in a friendly in March and Tite sought his signing to be completed before the start of the World Cup on 14 June.
“Players at all times think about their careers. What you’re saying is they do it as soon as possible so we can get back to the task they have on their hands with the national team,” he said after Saturday’s 2-0 win over Croatia at Anfield.
