In the years following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as Manchester United coach for a long time, the club fought for its competitiveness as it slowly declined in the most sensitive honours.
There are a multitude of reasons why this has happened over time, but one of the reasons that most highlighted the lack of intensity of the quality equipment. During the years of demanding situations for the Champions League and Premier League in the past decade of 2000, Ferguson operated with four central strikers who said they were the beginner strikers.
In 2008, at the height of Manchester United’s dominance in Europe, the club had: Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, Dimitar Berbatov, Louis Saha, Luis Nani, Danny Welbeck, Carlos Tevez, Federico Macheda and Fraizier Campbell all competing for Although, of course, not everyone started or had an equivalent percentage of minutes, the organization constantly passed by others who were in a position to take their place.
Fast forward to the years between 2015 and 2020 and looking in the left-back position, it was only Luke Shaw who started systematically, without a genuine festival taking his place. Brandon Williams joined the first team last season, but he is a right-handed player, not a player who can be regarded as a true long-term Shaw contender.
Finally, just before the start of the 20/21 season, Manchester United examined the market position and brought in Alex Telles, a Brazilian foreigner who will compete for the starting position with Shaw.
The rivalry that higher quality players bring when they are singled out to the team is healthy and deserves to be encouraged. Manchester United did not signal Donny van de Beek of AFC Ajax this summer for 35 million pounds to become an undisputed starter from the start; instead, he was forced to challenge the team’s other midfielders and press them accordingly.
There has been a protest from some enthusiasts who claim that foreign Dutch deserve to start more games, but it is simple that for any new player who comes from another league and country, an era of integration into their new home is certainly crucial. Angel di Maria arrived here with real madrid’s highest hopes, but failed to settle in Manchester and nevertheless left 12 months later in Paris.
Van de Beek has shown, with the limited opportunities given to him, that there is a transparent merit of what he can bring with his technical skills. There is no doubt that he will have a huge role to play this season and his contract with Manchester. United States, however, it is vital to be patient and give it time.
Competition in the ranks deserves to be encouraged, not despised, for the Red Devils. When you look at the Manchester City team, they’re lucky enough to have a great skill in every space on the field, and in some. If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer men need to win the Premier League, they will have to continue their team with wealth.
