Manchester United signing by Donny van de Beek

The 23-year-old has put his pen on paper on a five-year contract at Old Trafford with the option of an additional year at the most sensible, potentially keep him at the club until 2026.

Van de Beek joins a deal that can be worth up to 40 million pounds, leaving Ajax’s training years club after scoring 41 goals and creating 34 more in 175 appearances.

Technician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added: “Donny has all the technical attributes to perform on this team and has the personality to succeed at Manchester United.

His ability to see space, time his movements and read the game will complement the qualities we have in the midfield and his arrival reinforces the intensity of skill we have in this position.

“Donny’s performances at the Eredivisie and Europe have been perfect in recent years and we are all ahead of running with him.”

Van de Beek is Manchester United’s first signing of the summer and may make their debut for the club when they open their Premier League crusade on 19 September.
