Manchester United have teenage French defender Leny Yoro from Lille, the Premier League club announced on Thursday.
United said it had signed the 18-year-old until June 2029. British media reported that United were paying Lille €62m (£52. 2m) with €8m in potential additions.
“To sign for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an honour,” Yoro told Manchester United’s website.
Yoro made his debut for Lille in May 2022 and has made 46 Ligue 1 appearances for the club.
“Leny is one of the most interesting young defenders in world football; He has all the attributes necessary for a top-level centre-back,” said Dan Ashworth, Manchester United sporting director.
Olivier Letang, the president of Lille, said he was proud of Yoro.
