Manchester United verified the well-being and availability of Alex Telles after reports revealed that the left-back had tested the back for Covid-19.
Porto’s acquisition deadline was included in the starting lineup when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men won their first Champions League match at Paris St Germain.
This October 20 attack remains his appearance at United to date due to a positive coronavirus test, as Telles returned to the game as a dead-time replacement in Brazil’s 1-0 win over Venezuela on Saturday.
The Brazilian Football Confederation said the next day that the 27-year-old had tested positive for the disease but “is no longer in a broadcast stadium,” something the Old Trafford giants are studying.
United said in a statement: “The club is reviewing the scenario related to Alex Telles and will evaluate the defender when he returns to Manchester from his overseas duties later this week.
“Reports in Brazil have warned that Telles tested positive for Covid-19 for the time being and could miss his country’s match against Uruguay in Montevideo on Tuesday night.
“However, it is understood that Alex’s positive result does not necessarily mean that he has the virus again.
“United medics at the Aon Training Complex are following the scene in Brazil and will do an assessment when Telles returns to England later this week.
“We are still waiting for our recent signing of FC Porto to be needed to play Saturday in the Premier League against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford. “
United have already lost left-back Luke Shaw in the win over Everton last time.
