Italian coach Roberto Mancini insists he is interested in returning to club football until he finishes his career with the Azzurri.
Reports in Italy had claimed that several Premier Leagues had contacted former Manchester City manager Mancini.
Mancini has also coached as Lazio, Inter, Galatasaray and Zenit, and took over from Italy in 2018 with the national team at a low level.
The fact that the team did not qualify for this year’s World Cup left Mancini with rebuilding jobs, and 10 out of 10 wins in the Euro 2020 qualifiers were heading in the right direction.
Asked about the interest shown in him, Mancini said on Sunday: “My purpose is to do well in the European Championships and do well at the World Cup.It would be a remorse to leave the national team to another.
“No one tried me this summer.”
The 55-year-old, who took Manchester City to the premier league name in 2012 and Inter to successive successes of the Scudetto from 2006 to 2008, believes that the long term seems brilliant for Italy, with the Euro followed by a World Cup in 2022.
Mancini added, widely quoted in the Italian media: “We started this painting two years ago with a wonderful difficulty and yet I think we control ourselves to do a wonderful task and we look forward to it even more.”
The postponement of Euro 2020 until next year has disrupted plans, with Mancini now in the Nations League matches awaiting Italy.
They will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Florence on Friday, before Holland in Amsterdam the following Monday.
Mancini also referred to the appointment of Marcello Lippi as technical director of the Italian federation (FIGC), assuming that he was disappointed that he had not been consulted.
He said: “I don’t think it’s that vital, I’m sure nothing’s changed. The chair told me because it was already in the papers, yet it all ended there.I didn’t want to be reassured or explained.”
