Reports in Italy had claimed a number of Premier League clubs had contacted former Manchester City boss Mancini.
Mancini has also coached like Lazio, Inter, Galatasaray and Zenit, and took over the task for Italy in 2018 with the national team on low.
The fact that the team did not qualify for that year’s FIFA World Cup left Mancini with some rebuilding jobs, and 10 out of 10 wins in the Euro 2020 qualifiers were on the right track.
When asked about his interest, Mancini said Sunday: “My purpose is to do well in the European Championship and to do well in the World Cup. It would be a regret to leave the national team to another.”
“No one tried me this summer.”
The 55-year-old, who led Manchester City to the 2012 Premier League and Inter to successive Scudetto successes from 2006 to 2008, believes the long term looks promising for Italy, with the Euro taking off. it will be followed by a World Cup in 2022.
Mancini said: “We started this painting two years ago with a wonderful difficulty and despite everything I think that we control ourselves to do a wonderful task and we look forward to it even more.”
The postponement of Euro 2020 until next year has disrupted plans, and Mancini’s attention is now focused on the upcoming Nations League matches for Italy.
The Azzuri will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in Florence on Saturday (AEST), against the Netherlands in Amsterdam the following Tuesday.
Mancini also referred to the appointment of Marcello Lippi as technical director of the Italian federation (FIGC), after speculating that he was disappointed that he had not been consulted.
He said: “I don’t think it is such an important thing, absolutely nothing has changed. The president told me about it because it was already in the papers, but it all ended there. I didn’t need any reassurance or explanation.”
