SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Ketel Marte hit a house run, doubled down twice and singled as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Francisco Giants 6-5 on Friday night to snap a five-game streak.
Mars entered deep into the first entry opposing Giants left-hander Tyler Anderson.The Diamondbacks escaped an overdue traffic jam and ended a streak of eight games lost on the road.
“I’m just going out to make moves with the ball and watching to change things,” Mars said.”What can I say? I feel healthy and strong. Everybody knows what kind of player I am.
Nick Ahmed hit three hits for the Diamondbacks and rookie catcher Daulton Varsho towed two runs.
Arizona took a 6-3 lead in the fifth and, through a race in the eighth, the Giants filled the bases.
Alex Dickerson flew to the shallow right and Mauricio Dubon moved too far away from the base of moments and bent to weigh the rally.
“My mistake is that I ran with my head down,” Dubon said. “That can’t happen. A sleeve like that, and how we swing the bats, I just have to run with my head held high.”
Kevin Ginkel finished in ninth for his first save.
San Francisco, who played the house’s first six-game game and competed for a place in the playoffs, finished 2 out of 12 with runners in the purpose position.
Travis Bergen (1-0), who struggled in the fourth after relieved Arizona starter Taylor Clarke, claimed victory.
Six Diamondback relievers combined to pitch six innings and the Giants two races.
“The bullpen allowed two runs in six innings, one of the main reasons we won the game,” Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said.
Anderson (1-3) loaded with four runs in four innings.
Giants first baseer Brandon Belt continued his torrid streak on the plate.He has a career and doubled and now reached Array500 (26 out of 52) in his last games.
