Two of the Brazilian football coaches are attracting interest from Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1.
This follows André’s dismissal Villas-Boas. Es inevitable that a resolution would be taken on Portuguese, but his most recent action would possibly have sealed the agreement.
Villas-Boas has already faced himself after a lousy four-match losing streak with Marseille, not to mention that Les Gones have already been eliminated from the Champions League organizing phase this season as well.
However, the decision to suspend the 43-year-old came after he publicly opposed Celtic striker Olivier Ntcham’s signing by the club.
The French team already has a short list of candidates to upgrade Villas-Boas and two coaches who are running lately in Brazil.
The most sensitive on the list is Atlético-MG manager Jorge Sampaoli. Several reports even claim that the Argentine technician has already reached a previous agreement to take over Marseille.
An impressive picture of his time at Sevilla and his time as Head of Chile paid close attention to Sampaoli as coach. He also taught his taste as much as possible from veteran tacticatic Marcelo Bielsa and is no surprise.
However, there may be a problem. The Brazilian championship does end until February 26 and Sampaoli has been reported to only make a move between now and then. Atlético-MG remains in the race by the name of Brasilerao and it will not make sense for him to leave the club on this stage.
Given Marseille’s poor shape at the moment, it remains to be noted that they would like to wait so long.
Another technician on Marseille’s list of candidates is Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira, who, fresh out of his Copa Libertadores victory with Verdao, also contacted through Ligue 1.
However, Ferreira focuses on the Club World Cup with his team and would also be satisfied with his current role and his control of the club. The 42-year-old is under contract with Palmeiras until 2022 and intends to fulfill that contract.
Marseille also contacted former Juve chief Maurizio Sarri, but turned him down because he was not interested in running a team mid-season.
The French aspect would possibly have to remain with the interim boss until the end of the Brazilian championship. Sampaoli remains the favorite for the next Marseille technician, but a lot can happen in the coming weeks.
