Martin Zubimendi would now be “ready to go” to the real Sociedad, just five months after rejecting Liverpool, which may cause a relaunched offering in January.
Zubimenddi can return to the Liverpool time table this month with statements that the midfielder must now leave the true society.
This comes the movement window after its dramatic billing in a movement to Merseyside, with the interest of the reds for an agreement that never calms down despite their frustration.
BBC Sport’s Guillem Balague, a prominent Spanish journalist in the UK, provided an update on Zubimenddi’s prestige on Thursday.
“They told me that everything had done with Liverpool, but personally he did not leave. Now, 3 months after the season, he is in a position to go,” Balague explained.
“When Manchester City want a replacement for Rodri, that is the guy to look for.
“Barça would like him not to have the cash and is in a position to leave now.
Balague did, however, cast doubt on Liverpool returning for a player they were prepared to sign for £51 million in August, but that appeared more speculative than concrete information.
The suggestion that Zubimenddi is “ready to leave now” is intriguing, because Merseyside’s new positions reported that the club maintains its interest.
In September, journalist David Lynch told Anfield Agenda: “If the player is in a position at the time [in January] to take the step and I have the impression that” I made an error when staying, “I don’t think Liverpool exclude this at all.
David Ornstein de Athletics added in October that “the admiration continues”, while Lynch explained in Anfield that “nothing has replaced since summer” in regard to the interest of Liverpool.
“If Liverpool get the nod, a hundred consistent with Cent, they’re going to come back for him,” concluded Lynch, whose paintings can be found to be opposite to the context.
It is also worth nothing that Man City sources have ruled out a move for Zubimendi.
Speaking in December, Real Sociedad sporting director Roberto Olabe insisted he expected “no fear” regarding Zubimendi this month, but admitted his £51m clause presented “little peace”.
“There is little peace of the brain related to the clause, but all this time Martin himself has shown that the player’s will is above the clause,” Olabe told Sports Stadium.
“And up to today we have already seen his behaviour. I do not foresee that we will have any scares in winter.”
Real Sociedad is lately the eighth in LaLiga, Zubimenddi starting 20 of his 21 appearances in all competitions, so this season.
The Liverpool, meanwhile, are transparent in the most sensible of the Premier League and the Champions League with only Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah blocking more minutes in the field than Ryan Gravenberch.
