Greenwood faces a tough festival for playing with England, where he will compete against fellow forwards Harry Kane, Tammy Abraham and Danny Ings, but is ready for the fight.
“It’s a dream come true for England, it’s every young man’s dream,” Greenwood said.”I feel privileged and honored that I have been decided. It’s a smart organization of boys and I’m just happy to be here.
“It’s smart that everyone is in favor of places, it improves training.
“There is a lot of England’s skill right now, in the Premier League and abroad, and young people must, as you can see in the field performances.
“It’s to see all the young people come in and fight for places.
“I feel able to compete with anyone. As in the league, I just step by with a smile on my face and play football.”
Greenwood also smiled after receiving praise from legendary English forwarders Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney, the latter recently claiming that Greenwood is the wisest finisher at Old Trafford.
Despite the applause, the United striker stands firm in getting carried away and is pleased that his performances are what he talks about.
“Obviously it’s great to hear those things, but it’s about staying focused and showing your point on the field,” Greenwood said.
“Hearing things like that from Wayne, a United legend, is amazing.
“I looked at him like a child, so for him to communicate like that to me, that makes me smile.”
When asked what he had learned from his great season, Greenwood said, “Just to be balanced, you can’t let a lot of things happen to you. You’ll have to be a target and be able to play.
“As soon as I lose my concentration, it can happen.
“It will have to be a goal and be able to have long-term opportunities.”
