A pair of Sudbury Wolves forwards who have played an increasingly important role for the local OHL club have also seen their efforts recognized by NHL Central Scouting.
Nathan Villeneuve ranked 51st among North American skaters and Kieron Walton ranked 63rd in the mid-term test bureau rankings, released Friday morning.
Sam McCue, the Sudbury striker who recently switched from Peterborough to Owen Sound, was ranked 141st.
Wolves prospect Michael Hage, who plays for Chicago of the U. S. Hockey League, is a top prospect for Chicago. The U. S. team ranked 19th among the Americans and Charles Pardue, a member of the U. S. U18 Development Team, ranked 19th among the U. S. The U. S. National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) ranked 186th in the NCAA systems at Michigan and Notre Dame, respectively.
Defenseman Owen Protz, whom the Wolves traded to Brantford ahead of the OHL industry deadline this week, is also on the list with 168.
Villeneuve hasn’t let his wonderful skipping of the upcoming CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game detract from his recent performance, maintaining a points-per-game velocity in his last 10 games as he centers the Sudbury third line between Walton and Evan Konyen.
Villeneuve, a 17-year-old Ottawa home pick and Sudbury’s third overall pick in 2022, has 27 issues in 36 games this season, yet the six-foot-190 home team has been particularly productive in his last 18 games with 20 issues. while also playing key roles in the verification and removal of sanctions.
Walton has noticed his inventory increase, as the 6-foot-6, 210-pound Toronto home team has 15 goals and 15 assists in 35 games. He was recently named to the white team for the Top Prospects Game, which will take place in Moncton on January 24.

McCue, a forward born in late 2005 from Nickel City who won a championship with the Petes in 2022-2023, recently traded along with defender Konnor Smith to Owen Sound. He has 14 goals and 20 assists in 28 games this season.
