The Big Ten return to the Amway coaching ticket and the Associated Press’s top 25 ticket means Memphis slid on Sunday.
The Tigers (1-0) qualified for the third direct week, falling 4 places to No. 24 on the coaches ballot and 8 places to No. 25 on the AP ballot.
Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan return to the polls when the Big Ten begin quick trials Wednesday before their season’s return on October 24.
Despite the drop, this remains the first ranked Memphis in the show’s history. Prior to this three-week streak, the Tigers qualified only once in September and in 2004, when they were 25th on the AP ballot before beating Arkansas. Status on September 18.
Around the AAFC, UCF moved 3 spots to No. 12 on the coaching ballot and Cincinnati climbed a spot to No. 15 On the AP ballot, UCF raised two spots to No. and Cincinnati dropped a spot to No. 15
Memphis is scheduled to face SMU on Saturday (2:30 p. m. , ESPN2) for their first game in 28 days as the team recovers from a COVID-19 outbreak on the show. SMU (3-0) won votes and is 28 overall in the overall coaching standings.
