Memphis Tiger Mascot TOM III has been a secondary presence in Tigers games since 2008 and this series will end this season.
Due to AAFC restrictions that will only allow soccer groups on the field, TOM III will not be at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, ending a 73-game streak at the home in which it performs.
It’s the first time since 1972 that Memphis hasn’t had their pet live on the sidelines.
In June, he reported that non-secular teams and squadrons would not be on the court to start the season due to AAFC’s safety protocols amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. An AAFC spokesperson showed that the restriction also applies to live pets.
TOM III is the third tiger used at school.According to pre-game tradition, enthusiasts line up on Tiger Lane to pose for photos with him while resting in an air-conditioned trailer.
Just before the start, TOM III was taken inside Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium and stayed out of the games.
