Memphis wins votes but remains unranked in AP, coaches vote after Temple’s victory

Memphis’ victory over Temple on Saturday turned the Tigers into a ranked team.

Memphis (3-1, 2-1 AAC) climbed to 28th place on this week’s Amway coaching ticket released on Sunday. The Tigers won 88 votes, more than last week. It was 32 overall last week.

The Tigers remained outside the Associated Press Top 25, as they were ranked 26th overall for the time of a week in a row. Memphis won 105 votes, up from 76 last week.

Cincinnati (4-0, 2-0) climbed to seventh place in any of the polls, as the Bearcats receive the Tigers on Saturday (11 a. m. , ESPN). This will be the ranked team Memphis has faced since he took the No. 7 central Florida in the 2018 AAC Championship game.

SMU dropped to 22nd place in ap’s Top 25 and 23rd on the training ticket after losing Cincinnati at home on Saturday.

The other classified groups that do not belong to Power Five are Marshall (No. 18) and Coastal Carolina (No. 21). BYU (No. 10) and Army (No. 25) are independent schools and are eligible for the automatic offer of the six Group of Five New Year bowls.

Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Georgia point to the five most sensible this week.

Cincinnati kept SMU just 290 yards away in his 42-13 win on Saturday when the Bearcats claimed to be the defense of the AAFC.

Bearcats have a winning streak of 16 games at home. Quarterback Desmond Ridder pitched for 126 yards and ran for 179 yards opposite SMU while completing with 4 touchdowns in total.

Memphis beat Cincinnati twice last season and faced Ridder in the AAFC championship game, but the Tigers have lost their game on the road this season at SMU and will have a harder task looking to beat their first Top 10 opponent since Tennessee in 1996.
